I mentioned in Jep's thread a while ago that I had a lump, which I'm having removed today. Nothing to worry about, it's all fine, but it's my first surgery under general anesthetic, so any spare vibes would be much appreciated

will update when I'm conscious again!

Unless you throw up immediately after. That happens to a lot of people :p

The worst part of getting knocked out is the IV. Seriously. You'll be fine. :p

Don't make anaesthetics a habit, though.

Like I did.

If you read this before the surgery (which I guess you won't), you'll lay there thinking that it isn't going to work and you'll be awake for the whole thing. And then suddenly you'll wake up in a different room and will have lost track of time.

Yeah, the IV is probably the worst part. General anesthetic is an interesting experience, if you can call it much of an experience at all.

I used to think of it as an experience but then it became daily/weekly/monthly routine and then it turned into nostalgia. Freaky.

well, 6 hours after leaving the house, I'm back home. all is fine and dandy. I have to move slowly and there's a little tenderness, but other than that I feel totally normal.

I actually think the worst part of it all was the bloody blood pressure thingy, my arm was aching loads when they finally took it off. but yeah, going under was nothing, apart from weird. they didn't ask me to count backwards or anything, just to keep my eyes open as long as I could and I remember thinking "this is strange, I don't feel drowsy at all" and then I was in another room and it was half an hour later.

thanks for the vibes!

Anesthetics are weird. I'm always puking my guts out for a day after I go under. Good to hear everything went well for you though. :)

Bzzt! Glad everything went well.

I "woke up" during general anesthesia once and it was one of the weirdest things I've ever experienced. Nothing hurt but I vaguely heard/felt what was going on.

Anesthetics make for an interesting experience. The room started doing a wave (like you see if the heat is radiating from the pavement), and then BAM blackness for a second until I open my eyes and it's an hour later.

I got orange muffins. :)
