FEAR at 1680x1050?
2007-09-05, 10:50 PM #1
Anybody know how to get FEAR working at 1680x1050? The game only goes up to 1152x864 which is neither widescreen nor the native res for the monitor I'm using.

Help?

Look for settings.cfg in the FEAR directory, I think I saw it in there when I had it installed a while ago. There you should be able to put in any graphics settings you want.

Hmm, I know a lot of games lately have been putting configuration/save game files in the users my documents area. Have you looked in there?

I don't think so? I'm not too terribly familiar with Vista's file structure...god this is annoying.

Ah nm, almost got the patch and it's got native widescreen support.

:D

EDIT: Thanks for the attempts at help, but the filestructure isn't the same. I can't find the settings.cfg to save my life.

Yea, that's one thing I am still getting used to in Vista.

Edit: For reference, I think the settings.cfg can be found in C:\Users\Public\Public Documents

I know I hax0red it to run at 1280x1024 (I think it actually goes up to 1280x960). But the game isn't made to run at anything other than 4:3 (that I can tell) so you have a couple glitches.

- The screenshot on the loading screen isn't lined up properly so you can see the placeholder graphic under it a bit.
- Half of the weapon description text runs off the bottom of the screen on the weapon selection screen.

This applies to FEAR Combat. I don't have the full thing, but I didn't notice anything when I did this in either demo.
