I was watching a youtube comparison of starfox 64 vs the VC starfox (minor changes) and some morons in the comments were flaming eachother over whether or not the guy used a turbo controller to shoot so fast. I remember playing Mario Party # with the digging for treasure mini game, i never lost at that.

The first time I played that I used this 'technique' if you will where my arm literally vibrates to dig around and my friends were amazed. I got bored one day and measured how many times I can press a button within 10 seconds using super smash bros on n64. I put the cursor over the 'lives' counter and started. I ended up doing 127 times for 10 seconds.

13 times per second, not too bad i guess.

Anyways thats about the only bragging right I have to games, anything thats tap oriented without a restraint *IE some shooting games, 3 shots per screen DIE!* i usually dominate in.

I can beat all my friends in Street Fighter games. I guess. I have nothing amazing to brag about really.

Metroid Prime 1 taught me how to make my arm vibrate for turbo mode. I could actually outdamage the plasma beam with just the power beam.

You know, back before Prime 2 and 3, where Retro decided to give the power beams an exponential damage curve and gave all enemies about 80x the HP.



Also, I'm the world's greatest Ultima 9 player.

This is my main claim to fame. Taken right after a round where I killed the entired opposing team myself (minus one guy — I finished all the objectives with less than 20 seconds to spare).

I once beat a three-on-one handicap against my mates on Perfect Dark. Took them down a peg or two!

It was a pretty good game, actually. I kept moving around a laptop sentry gun, constantly catching them out when they tried to surround me. I guess they never learned to check my screen to see what I was doing.

Wow, that 13 button mashes a second is pretty amazing, especially since the fastest drummers in the world can only do ~20bps, and that's with both arms.

I tried the vibration thing on MP1 and the power beam doesnt fire fast enough. It seems to only allow ~8 shots in the game at one time. (usually though there arent big enough rooms or areas for them to move across, even outside it only takes around 2 seconds to reach the other side.)

Anyways, moving an arm 2ft or so for whatever drummers do is amazing, but moving it a millimeter or so to connect and disconnect the signal of a button on a controller is very different.

I too have a pretty good "mash button" skills. In the Mario Party games, where you have to mash the A button as many times as you can in 10 seconds, I usually get in the 100~130 range (it's been a while, hence why my numbers are vague, but I crush the competition in any case).

I got up to 8-3 in Adventure Island, and not with an emulator or cheats or crap. PURE WILLPOWER.

I used to think myself as a good saberist with SBX in JediKnight (since I played and tested with its creator, ShadowX), but then I played against CoolMatty... So I'll just brag that I helped test the SBX mod.

As Sarn can attest, I'm pretty good as Lei Wulong in Tekken 3.

I'd have to say professional musicians who have spent years of practice to get muscle memory down for the specific purpose of hitting a an area about the size of a quarter repeatedly as fast as humanly possible beats a young gamer and his incredible button mashing skills.

hah, ok so I was exaggerated a little bit, im no musician. All I know is the distance the end of that stick moves is far greater than the distance it takes to connect/disconnect a button sensor.

I've never lost the snowboarding minigame in Mario Party... 10? The game where you do as many rotations as possible. I can't win single button-mashing, although I also do full arm vibration.

And since someone mentioned GTA, I spend more time on the motorcycle (read: NRG) than all other methods of transportation combined, and am usually going against traffic without hitting anything.

Yeah, I road motorcycles every chance I got.

As far as button mashing, I'm not very good. The only way I can succeed when games need it is to vibrate my whole arm. I have a friend who is amazing at it though, back in the day I always got him to pass the torture scene in MGS for me Sometimes the game even mistakenly thought he was using a turbo button.
