A .755g sample of hydrated copper (II) sulfate, (CuSO4 * xH2O), was heated carefully until it had changed completely to anhydrous copper (II) sulfate (CuSO4) with a mass of .483 g. Determine the value of x.

It's asking for the coefficient of water in the original formula and I'm just not seeing the path to the solution...

You need to find the number of moles each of water and copper sulfate, which you do by dividing the mass of each by the molar mass of each. These molar numbers should be in a simple integer ratio, which is equal to x.
