I'm curious what others thought about Massassi's front page and the pictures of submissions.

Personally, at first, I thought it was neat that viewers can easily see what the submissions look like without much effort. But seeing that Massassi doesn't get much submissions, the pictures, for me, begin to get a wee bit distracting after awhile. Like a slideshow that sits still. For my 2 cents, I think there should be direct links to screenshots (so you can get that quick viewing) without pictures becoming too overwhelming on the front page. Like "Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2" under the file discription. Eh?

I like it, but maybe it would be cool to have a 'Random File of the Day' kind of thing on the very top, and it could cycle through a random file on Massassi every single day to keep it a little more interesting?

Maybe, have the pictures, appear on the current news post and when the news post gets bumped down, by the next post, it becomes a plain link to the pictures.

I like the pictures of the submissions, It gives you an idea of if you want to look at it further without having to click on a few extra links, but it does get distracting if there's a lot of them.

I also like Dark__Knight's idea for a random file of the day, maybe we could replace the level of the week with it since it's not really updated as much as it used to be.

We originally had the screenshots just as text links. I like the pictures the way they are now because it lets people see at a glance whether they'd like more information. I'm not opposed to changing it back if that's what everyone wants. However, the idea where the pictures stop showing themselves after a certain period of time isn't really feasible with our current news system. I like the idea of a random level. We could weight it to levels with higher ratings, higher downloads, or maybe higher ratings with lower downloads so maybe we pull up good levels which weren't that popular.

Nah I like the small shots. Many times have I downloaded levels that had shots that caught my eye. I rarely check out new levels, but once in a while those screens grab me.

Erm, they've only been up for a few level posts...

Come to think of it, what not seperate level-uploading news and regular news on the front page? Like have regular news about Massassi above the news about submissions, so it won't be shifted off the page when files come in?
