Oh, man that's gonna really make a lot of people disappointed. Loss of a good writer aside, he and his fans were hoping that he's tie up the loose end in Wheel of Time.

I guess it's lucky I never started the series, but from what I gather this is like JK Rowling dieing half way through Deathly Hallows.

He would have finished the series if he didn't fill his books with so much crap filler.

It is posted on his blog that he told his family the rest of the story. Maybe there's hope that somebody will finish it?

I read this on slashdot. RIP for sure, that's got to be a really hard way to go out. People on slashdot are using this an excuse to complain about his writing... I'd like to rip off their heads and piss down their dead throats.

Well after giving it some thought past the "Oh ****e! He's dead" and speaking with my author friend, she and I have come to the very simple conclusion that :

If RJ had half a brain, and I believe he had an overgrown one at that, he would have named a successor to conclude the Wheel of Time franchise. He has been fighting a valiant fight against this decease for a long time, but alas it was simply a fight to last a little longer, not one to beat the decease. He knew that he would sadly pass away sooner or later. Upon some research, I've also discovered that he's indeed left several notes behind and has told to his family the conclusion of the series.

Grieve for the man, for what I see as a great man, but be relieved: His series will be completed.

RIP Robert Jordan.

First, this isn't so sad. He knew he was going to go, and we all thought it'd be last year. He pushed on till this year, so that's an accomplishment.

Second, his wife will be concluding the series. She has been a huge part of the books' development, and is the second expert on WoT according to Jordan himself. He's got a binder with all of the history and ideas in it, and she's more than equipped to complete the last book.

Sad, but not devastating. He'll be missed, but he lived a dignified and honorable life, and he had come to terms with death. We'll also get to conclude the story once and for all after his wife completes the books.

Yeah, too bad he couldn't finish his series for his own sake. I personally didn't care for it but I must say any unfinished story is a shame.
