lol....corpses.

[EDIT:] Bill lost by like 4 votes or something. We still contradict the constitution. Too lazy to find a source, google it.

There's a democrat named Sheldon Whitehouse. He should be president.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Apparently it failed.

Both of my senators already support it.

Stunning that any senator could vote against the restoration of something that the Constitution says is not to be suspended unless there's an invasion or a rebellion.

I don't even need to look at it to know mine didn't. Though, one was probably too busy in a bathroom stall to vote...

It's sad that this issue is only being considered on a party line basis. Jerks. It's almost gotten to the point where terrorism against the government would do more good than harm.

I would love to see what this act really entails. It's probably just a header for a ton of pork barrel.

Wow, my senators were both for it. Surprising.

Slashdot clarified this.

The bill only applies to non-US citizens on non-US soil when detained by our govt/millitary. All US citizens have always had habeas corpus. So the issue with this bill is, do non-US citizens on non-US soil get it?

One poster on Slashdot pointed out that the US Constitution and Bill of Rights are worded so that the rights they describe, are described as applying to ALL PEOPLE, not just citizens of the US.

So in the end we still have politicians tearing down rights set in the Constitution, it just doesn't apply to US citizens now.

+1, and I looked at the chart, and no, they didn't support it.
