I got a Pentax K100d and have been taking pictures over the summer. I thought I'd post a few of my favorites here to see what ya'll think and perhaps get some feedback. Also, post some of your galleries!

Google has come to my rescue with a free full resolution photo hosting. You get like a GB of space too, it's ridicules.

EDIT: Wow, Picasa actually does a really good job of decoding .raw files. This has gotton to be a really neat program.

I really like #2 (The open window), and #5 reminds me of the HL2 Citadel.

I took #2 when I was just sort of taking a bunch of pics arbitrarily, and it turned out really well. I had the white balance set to something stupid though, so I had to settle for a tinted picture as opposed to something full color. I may fiddle around with the tint a bit more or see how it likes black and white.

you can color correct any weird white balance with Photoshop or Lightroom

Yeah, but I can't afford Photo Shop, and, though I'm not averse to the odd TV show, I don't think it right to pirate programs. If I had been an idiot and shot it in jpg, it would have been really easy to fix with pentax's utility.

it's the addition and tweaking of the blurring and other things... i spend alot of time playing with sliders and such to get things just how i want them

i'm not some photoshop wiz who knows all the quick ways to do things half the time when i open photoshop it's to resize something since irfanview tends to blur everything too much when resizing

Use Gimp.

And the pics look good.

Thanks!

On another note, this Google images thing is great. You get a GB of space for images of what ever size you like and you can embed them in posts and things. This is leaps and bound better than any other image hosting service. I wonder how it helps them to offer it for free, though.

How is that different from regular Photoshop? Is it horribly gimped?
(Pardon the pun.)

Its not as powerful as Photoshop CS3, but it does basic photo editing. Download the demo from www.adobe.com and see how you like it.

Paint.NET is great for basic photo editing. It's interface is much better than GIMP's. GimpShop is also much better than GIMP.
