Are there any monitors that offer component connections? I know that there are TVs that offer VGA and DVI but they are substandard as monitors.

Not many, Wookie06. There are component to VGA transcoders, but they tend to be expensive.

Have the same one. Which panel did you get?

I was lucky enough to get an 'S' panel :)

this one

It's the one I've got on my desktop, Samsung makes the panel for it, and it has DVI, VGA, Component up to 1080i, S-Video, and Composite.

Just out of academic interest: What do you need the component connections for? Can you connect something like xbox360 with component or something else like that?

Or a DVD player.

Etc and so forth.

I've got this one and use it for my main PC monitor and I can also use it for my Wii just by clicking a button on the screen that switches the connection over.

Screen is also awesome.

Thanks NoESC. Do you know if the monitor can be easily mounted on a wall?

I'm interested for space saving reasons. In my new house the third bedroom houses an armoire entertainment center with an older 27" CRT, my old XBox and Gamecube, etc. Then there's my computer desk that has my recently acquired media center capable computer. Since the computer is a more capable TV than the actual television if I have a monitor capable of inputting component I can actually upgrade the video for the game consoles and get rid of the TV for additional storage in the armoire or get rid of the armoire all together.

Thanks. At first it looked like it didn't have the connections I asked about but then it lists a buttload in a different section.

I'm contemplating an HD TV for a monitor. My 21.5" monitor just doesn't compensate enough. I want it bigger, wider, and hard core.

Haha, sweet. I currently have the samsung 216bw version, which is pretty much the same monitor. It's been over a month now since I bought it from best buy for about 300 bucks. It's pretty cool except for the fact that I get annoying error about the the monitor not being in optinum mode of 1680x1050 @ 60 hz even though it is in the res. My graphic card locks the refresh rate at 60 hz but the monitor thinks its higher so there is no way for me to stop the error unless I get a new graphics card.

Once you've had a widescreen monitor you won't be able to have a not widescreen monitor.

It's like a curse.

It's true... I can't stand using the computers at my college because of this reason.
