I know this is old news but how annoying is this? Like everybody else out there I get these forwarded emails. How freaking hard is it to just copy and paste the junk you're forwarding in to a new email? At least then you don't have to scroll so far to find out what you're already planning to delete.

Subject: FW: PLEEEEEEEEASE REEEEEAD! IT WAS ON GOOD MORNING AMERICA TODAY SHOW

Try it... won't hurt...=)

Read carefully...

THIS TOOK TWO PAGES OF THE TUESDAY USATODAY - IT IS FOR REAL

To all of my friends, I do not usually forward messages,

But this is from my friend Pearlas Sandborn and she really is

an attorney.

If she says that this will work - It will work. After all,What have

you got to lose?

SORRY EVERY BODY.. JUST HAD TO TAKE THE CHANCE!!! I'm an

attorney, And I know the law. This thing is for real. Rest assured

AOL and &nbs p; Intel will follow through with their promises for

fear of facing a multimillion-dollar class action suit similar to the one

filed by PepsiCo against General Electric not too long ago.

Dear Friends: Please do not take this for a junk letter.

Bill Gates sharing his fortune. If you ignore this, You will repent

later.

Microsoft and AOL are now the largest Internet companies

and in an effort to make sure that Internet Explorer remains the

most widely used program, Microsoft and AOL are running an e-mail

beta test.

When you forward this e-mail to friends, Microsoft can and will

track it (If you are a Microsoft Windows user) For a two weeks

time period.

For every person that you forward this e-mail to, Microsoft will pay

you $245.00 For every person that you sent it to that forwards it on,

Microsoft will pay you $243.00 and for every third person that receives

it, You will be paid $241.00. Within two weeks, Microsoft will contact

you for your address and then send you a check.

Regards. Charles S Bailey General Manager Field Operations

1-800-842-2332 Ext. 1085 or 904-1085 or RNX 292-1085

Thought this was a scam myself, But two weeks after receiving this

e-mail and forwarding it on. Microsoft contacted me for my address and

within days, I received a check for $24, 800.00. You need to respond

before the beta testing is over. If anyone can afford this, Bill gates is the

man.

It's all marketing expense to him. Please forward this to as many

people as possible. You are bound to get at least $10, 000.00

We're not going to help them out with their e-mail beta test without

getting a little something for our time. My brother's girlfriend got in

on this a few months ago. When I went to visit him for the Baylor/UT

game, she showed me her check. It was for the sum of $4,324.44 and

was stamped "Paid In Full".

I got the "Mars as big as the Moon" one AGAIN back in August; it goes around every couple of years or so...

which really makes you wonder: the e-mails do coincide with the opposition of Mars (when it is actually its closest to Earth), which means that SOMEBODY who knows at least a little bit about astronomy is starting them, and sends it to a bunch of gullible fools who in turn send it to their friends, etc... so who are these people from whom these chain letters originate? How do they get enough people to believe the stuff they send out? Why do they do it? Is it a big social experiment? Is it just for amusement? Or is there a more sinister purpose?

Also, why do people who forward chain letters always get so pissy when you send them links to snopes?

I got one two days ago asking me to login to a secure site to verify my online banking information, because multiple IPs were attempting to access my account. I was told my account would be frozen if I didn't verify my identity and change my password. The hyperlink was to an IP address on a non-secure site... I guess if you were a SF_GoldG_01 or JediKirby, you might actually go to "verify" your account.

Anyway, I thought about filling out the form with profanity and random bull****, but I just flagged the e-mail as spam.

Yeah, but now that MB edited it it doesn't make the point anymore. Oh well. Even more annoying are the emails that end up being forwarded as attachments so you have to open eight nested emails to see what you're going to delete.

Yeah, I get those sometimes. Luckily, if you use GMail and Firefox, you have double protection. GMail will filter out most phishing e-mails, but if you do go to a phishing site that's mocked up to look like an official bank site, Firefox will give you a warning.

Of course, I bank with a local credit union and most of the scams are 'from' national chains, so I'd have to be super retarded to be tricked by them.

I fell for one once. I was on eBay and clicked on an auction listing in the car section. Then the eBay login page popped up. I normally glance at the URL but didn't for some reason. After filling out the username and password it took me to a porn page. So I immediately went to eBay, changed my password, and reported the scam. Basically several accounts were stolen in this manner. Then I logged back in to the scam and filled out profane BS to let the criminals know I reported them.
