Dual monitor question
2007-09-25, 2:59 PM #1
I've acquired a 17" gateway LCD which I would like to use as a second monitor with my BenQ 20". I've tried hooking it up, and I set it to do a horizontal stretch in the nvidia options, but it sets the resolution to something that looks really weird on my BenQ (because it's widescreen). I've done this before with normal 4:3 monitors but never with a widescreen and a normal one. Is there anyway to set the main monitor to use 1680*1050 and the other one to say 1280*1024? I remember something about a good dual monitor program a while ago, but I can't remember what it was called.

Windows does that, just right click on your desktop Properties => Settings and start fiddling.

Make sure you're setting each individual monitor, not a combined desktop that stretches across both displays. It's best to have each monitor be treated as a separate desktop, else maximizing a window will fill up both screens.

The program you're thinking of is UltraMon.

I have, I can't get anything to work. It won't let my adjust anything in the settings tab unless I open the nvidia control panel.

Hmm, Well sort-of on topic. Is it possible to set up a small TV as a second monitor?

Yes. You just need a TV that will take VGA or a video card that will output whatever.

Well then, guess i should get on that. Catalyst just lets me have either my Composite(Or was it componant?) video out or my monitor. I'll try that program.
