Obligitory NFL Thread (Will Update weekly)
2007-10-07, 7:48 AM #1
So, instead of making threads weekly, I'll just make one big one for the whole season.(yeah, lets keep it going until Jan-Feb)

Anyway, it is week 5 and the fun is starting up. New England, Indy, and Dallas are at the tops of the NFL with 4-0 records. Green Bay is the best they've been in years and some of the bottom feeding NFL teams are starting to pick up. Should be an interesting week 5. I feel that Indy is in for a tough fight against a real deal Tampa Bay team. And Dallas facing Buffalo. Dallas needs this win before facing New England later on. I think the NFC/AFC champ games are going to be
Dallas v Green Bay/Indy v New England.

Chargers are going to go 1 - 4 today because 1) We're playing in Denver and that's always been one of our tough places (like KC too). 2) Norv Turner's our coach. 3) They seem to forget who LT is.

I genuinely like the Chargers, so I'm rooting for them to lose a crapload of games this season; maybe they'll fire Turner before its too late and bring back MARTY! Other than that, tonight's Packers Bears game will be a big statement for the Pack and probably solidify our standing as the best team in the division.

Redskins return from their bye week to own!

Screw you Lionboys!

Agreed, go redskins.

Should be a good game.

Did you hear the MARTY chant at the Q last Sunday?

Well, St. Louis and KC both blow, so I'm rooting for the Packers and Cowboys. I want to see them in the NFC championship game.

In other news, my fantasy team is sucking today. Willie Parker, the NFL rushing leader, is averaging under 3 ypc. Pathetic.

I can't get excited about pro after last years college season. I'll try though. Any especially exciting games coming up?

The Chiefs are not having a great year, but they do not "blow" like the Rams do. Since I'm from Kansas City, I'm used to fair-weather fans though. Whatever!
2007-10-07, 12:28 PM #10
Well, I'm not from KC, so I've never been a big fan. But I like seeing a Missouri team doing well. Chiefs would be doing so much better if they had a quarterback and a decent O Line. Defensively, KC looks better than average.

I'm still a St. Louis fan through and through, but I can recognize when they are doing badly. Injuries are killing us, considering last week not a single O lineman played his original position.

So yeah, I'm not a fair-weather fan. I can just recognize when we don't have a chance.

Well, I've only missed one game in my football pool. Colts are winning against Tampa Bay. Anyone see the almost helmet-to-helmet hit? Clark got freakin nailed.

So...is Denver that bad or is San Diego suddenly a team again?

I know!! I'm confused as well. I want to say that we're a team again. We really looked like the 14 - 2 team we were last year. We gave the ball to LT and look what happened. We got points.

Denver is that bad.

P.S. that does not preclude the possibility that the Chargers are playing better.

Gah! Such a close game tonight. Dallas pulled it out by a hair. Good job Cowboys. Now, if Tony Romo hadn't thrown one of those interceptions, I would have won my fantasy matchup this week.

*Cough*Bears Record*Cough*. All I'll say about that game is that Packers lost it, Bears didn't win it. Our fumbles were stupid mistakes, and weren't "caused" by the vaunted Bears D which isn't too great nowadays.

Anyways, that Dallas Buffalo game was nuts, absolutely nuts.

True, the Bears forgot how to tackle for half a game, but it's still a whole different D when Briggs and Tillman are in there. (how are the fumbles not "caused" by the defense when Tillman, who is apparently the "strip coach" of the Bears, rips it right out? I'm baffled) It would be an absolute beast if Mike Brown was in there. Opposing offenses should thank Lorenzo Neal for that... cheap shotting *******. Still missing Vasher though. Daneiel Manning plays CB like a noob, and safety not much better.

Greg Olsen is going to be a stud.

Anyway, packers are going nowhere if they cant even put away the 1-3... excuse me, 2-3 Bears.

Yeah, just like I'm sure Indianapolis was going nowhere when they got absolutely demolished by the Jacksonville Jaguars, lost to the lackluster cowboys, and lost to the Houston Texans last year

Your logic makes no sense. You've got about....10 more games to see

Yeah, still have to think the Packers are a better team than the Bears despite the results of the game. That may sound like fanboyism, but given how both teams have played up to this point of the season, and lining up the players by position, is there any doubt the Packers at the very least are the equal of the Bears? I'm actually pleased to a point that the Bears won, I am dying to see how this Packer team responds to adversity. If we come out next week and play Washington hard, it's all good. If we don't...things get interesting. The next few weeks will be the true test methinks.

Packers aint even in the same galaxy as the Colts, this year or last. And if my logic makes no sense, then I guess the entire BCS system is a sham.

Nevermind, bad argument.

Anyway, Nubs, I'm glad you enjoyed the loss. Bears are undefeated vs the Packers in games that matter since 2004. It's kinda nice.

Both teams put their best efforts into winning because it will have playoff implications down the road... Unless you're a smartass and dont care about football in general.

Granted, every game matters, and division wins are huge in the NFL, but it's far too early to tell if that game is going to matter down the road when a playoff spot is on the line.

Week 6 baby! New England at Dallas. Battle of the unbeaten teams. Who's gonna win?

Personally hoping Dallas will win, but I gotta admit, they are going to have work for it. Post the game you are looking forward to

As much as I've hated the Patriots and their "dynasty" lately, it's nothing compared to the passionate loathing I've had for the cowboys. Therefore I hope the cowboys burn, B.O. tears both ACLs, and Rex Romo continues to play like Bad Romo... Err I meant Tony Romo.

I wanna see the Pats get stomped by the Cowboys but I won't be surprised if they don't.

Those are exactly my thoughts. I picked the Pats to win, but I'd rather be wrong.

KC is stomping Cincy. Which is bad. Although the AFC west is pretty weak right now. We could have a tie for first at .500.

KC just pulled it out on a last minute interception. Though I must say, I am impressed with their overall defense. Also, Tony Gonzales now hold the record for most touchdowns by a tight end. St. Louis is 0-6 for the second time in franchise history. We have 3 offensive starters left from the beginning of the season. Not good for us.

Pats and Cowboys is pretty close right now, 14-10 with 6:00 left in the second quarter. A lot of football to play yet.

Also, how about those Ravens? They killed St. Louis, but got me ridiculous points in Fantasy (defense and kicker).

Patriots are unstoppable. I don't think they will be undefeated. Somebody is going to best them. As soon as the other team figures out how to take out the mics on the defense :v:

Packers basically played like the Bears last week, with the Redskins taking the role of Green Bay. Nice to see this young team rebound and pick up a win going into the bye, and even nicer to see the Bears get shredded by the Vikes and drop back three games. If Minnesota actually had a decent QB/WR, they would be an outstanding team.

On a whole other note; my god who could bet against the Patriots at this juncture in time? The only way I see them going down is if Tom Brady has a brain aneurysm in the middle of the Super Bowl.

Green Bay didn't play well, the Redskins just played horribly in the second half.

I never said the Packers played well; I likened it to last week when the Bears beat the Packers. Chicago did not play particularly well, but Green Bay imploded in the second half and gave them the win. This week, Washington practically did the same thing, although I do believe Green Bay was robbed of one, if not two TDs. However, Washington shouldn't get down on themselves; they are a good team, I think they just need to get healthy.
