Anyone have experience with either of these services? There's tons of movies and games I'd love to play or see, but I can't justify dropping so much money on games I'll probably only play through once. So are these services any good? Are they worth it?

I use netflix, I've had an account for years now. I haven't had any major problems with it. Works as advertised. If you rent/return too many movies too quickly, they throttle your account by delaying the next movie by a day or two when your return gets their. Other than that, no issues.

Hm, I like that Netflix lets you watch movies online, too. Blockbuster doesn't...

The only bad experience I've had are the mistreated DVDs I occasionally get. I've learned to just always clean every disc no matter what it looks like. And I've never had any problem with them delaying discs. I think it just seems that way depending on when the discs hit the mail seeing how there is no mail delivery at either end on a weekend or federal holiday.

Anyone used Gamefly though?

I wish they had a service that did both DVDs AND games.

I have Netflix. Works great. Never had the throttling problem Brian mentioned.

One of my roommates over the summer used netflix (for... archiving purposes :ninja:) but he never mentioned throttling.

I have Netflix, no throttling problems. Have had broken discs before, but only once or twice.

I've considered getting it. Don't have enough time to game to justify it yet. I say just try it for a month to see how well you like the service. I'm sure it is on par with the DVD services.

I've been thinking of getting gamefly for some SP only games like Lost Planet... But I never bit the bullet and got it.

With the throttling, it used to be we'd drop a movie in the mail one day (say monday) and they'd get it Tuesday (because the netflix center is a town away). They'd drop a new one in the mail tuesday, and I would get it wednesday. For a few months, I got into this throttling state where I would drop the movie in the mail monday, they would get it tuesday, but they wouldn't mail the next one until wednesday and I would get it thursday.

When I emailed them, they pointed out the lines in their TOS that they were allowed to throttle, and after doing some research I found a class action lawsuit against netflix for this (although it's over now).

After a few months I guess they took me off and we haven't had problems with it since.
