Youtube Audio capture

I need to rip the audio from 2 Youtube videos. How do I accomplish this? They are original songs I'm supposed to have learned for this Saturday, but I need the songs in mp3 format so I can listen to them everywhere, instead of just a computer that doesn't have Youtube blocked (like at work).

FLVE xtract, though at least *I* need to fix the VBR header afterwards

Edit: didn't notice, you would need to get the flv of course, so this solution is probably worse anyway

Where is the option to go straight to audio instead of an "empty" video?

You can also use vixy.net.

The problem with using audacity or any other recording program is that the audio on Youtube is already compressed. So you're recording compressed audio, and then compressing it again.

Yeah, it really does sound bad after that.

However quality is not an issue, and Audacity worked fine. After fiddling with the setting for a bit.

Anyway, thanks, you guys saved me a big headache.

Audacity is what I always use, I never really notice any sound loss.

If you can get your hands on xilisoft ultimate converter, its a GREAT program. Download the mp4 YouTube videos and convert them to mp3 using the program. Works perfectly.

As I was reading this, I was preparing to make a reply about possible quality issues with recording... and then I read what I was thinking.

But I should have clarified - the quality issue is with lossy formats (mp3), not with Audacity. But it doesn't really matter now.
