...are utter crap. Somehow the guy at Microcenter managed to convince me they were good. Not only is the 5.1 rather useless with EAX and junk, but the sound quality is horrible. I looked at the specs in the store, and the fact that it was only 16 ohms nominal impedence should have told me it sucked. That and I should have known I couldn't get twelve good speakers for $65.

But I had picked up these Sennheiser 212 Pros earlier at Circuit City, only to find them online for about $45 as opposed to the $60 of the store. I really like them, but they also have the Sennheiser 490 Symphonies on sale for just $90. Online I can only find them for well over a hundred. Definitely wanna try those out...Sennheiser, hmm. German engineering is the best.

yeah well... i would never buy any headphones that claim to be 5.1 or EAX... that just doesn't seem to fit logically in my mind (=

I got the Sennheiser PMX60's for xmas and they are VERY nice; i'll never buy Sony headphones again [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

I got the AOpen HS-780 headset, and for just 17 bucks, it's a godlike headset. Mic is awesome, you can't hear anything but what you're listening to, and I've worn them for hours on end. However, didn't get rid of this white noise...probably just my crappy onboard soundcard.

Well, I seriously think that AKG's headphones rock.

They're pretty cheap, and awesome.

I've had AKG's K-44-model headphones for very long time, and they haven't failed me.

Or maybe AKG makes headphones that suit me. Anyways, too bad that you got crappy headphones, Emon. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

I'm going up to Audiocraft in a few minutes, they let you try out all sorts of products, including headphones, before you buy them. Right now I'm looking at the HD 570 or a similar model with similar specs for similar quality...

I have the Zalman 5.1 headphones....fine for me, especially with games. I'm sure there are a lot better ones out there, but these were cheap so I'm happy [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Perhaps when you're used to the extreme quality of something like Sennheiser, it's hard to go with Zalman.

Anyone know what nominal impedence is? I know what it is, but I don't know what it means for speakers or headphones. One friend of mine told me it had to do with load and efficiency. I've definitely noticed that the higher I go in price/quality, the higher the nominal impedence. Rather, it appears higher end models have higher nominal impedence.

I should probably ask on some audiophile forums.

Probably, which is why I'm glad I've never tried them [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif] Eh, I just wanted some fairly cheap headphones to use to play games when I didn't want to piss Nik off with our 6.1 speakers.....I think I drove her nuts playing CoD with the volume/bass turned right up [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]
