Hmm, I can already think of a pretty bad scenario involving this:

Let A = Nerd/Social Outcast who identifies himself as male and is biologically male (male in the traditional sense)
Let B = Group of students that want to embarass/harass this individual.

B gets together and votes A as homecoming queen candidate. Seems like this sort of thing could be potentially used for wrong.

More obviously, a heterosexual male can choose to go into a women's lockerroom to sexually harass them.

Edit: yeah, so I'm at work and didn't pay much attention to the source. Probably not for real, but it's not funny enough for me to believe that it's satire.

(Unfortunately, it looks like no reputable news sources have commented on Senate Bill 777 yet. The bill itself is here and, from a brief scan, looks pretty harmless. Note that the only person actually saying that words like mom, dad, husband and wife could be banned under the law is a mouthpiece for a right-wing advocacy group.)

It's real in the sense that the quotes are real (probably) and the people producing the story actually believe it. WorldNetDaily is not a satirical site, as much as it may resemble one sometimes.

As a side-note to that bill, why change the wording from handicapped to disabled? If I were disabled/handicapped I'd rather call myself handicapped - "having something that makes doing certain things a bit harder" than disabled - "being unable to do something". One implies that it's a difficulty whereas the other suggests it's a barrier.

like i think has already been stated a law like this does NOT!!!!! create an environment of 'equality' it promotes special privilege for a select group. you want to be tough on harassment then be tough on it, but do it across the board! and this business about going into whichever bathroom you "identify" with... how about you we change it so if you have XY chromosomes you go to the XY restroom and if you have XX you go to the XX restroom.
