I might image this time, because this is annoying.

I thought my (DSL) modem was flaky - pages weren't loading completely, etc. Just had cable installed - helluva lot faster when stuff does work, but I still have the same issues.

Better yet, destroy your computer altogether and never post here again.

Try buying a new Ethernet card. It's like $20 for a NIC nowadays. Unless you've already tested it from another machine. Might save you some hassle of reloading the OS.

Formatting sucks, but it always seems to make things faster.

You don't need to reformat, simply reinstalling the OS gives you the same results but with less trouble.

Also I would try booting off of a Linux LiveCD to see if the internet is still slow. If so, it's not your computer that's at fault, most likely. I would also try bypassing any routers you might have to see if the problem is there.

True, Ubuntu is a fast free easy one to use, and that reminds me the new version comes out like real soon.
