Freeware software for recording streaming video

My parents got remarried in Vegas with Elvis, and they need me to download their wedding video. The problem is that it's streaming, and I am completely in the dark when it comes to video software.

Is there anything free out there that will let me download a streaming video?

I'm going to try a shareware program I found, but please give any suggestions if you know of a particularly good program.

You can try using the free the video encoder SUPER. You can then convert any file to any file.

I got it, using a somewhat sketchy piece of conversion software that I found through google.

VLC can indeed write anything that's playing to the hard disk as a mpg or avi file. From my experience, it works better in Linux than in the Windows build.

You can probably just save the file using Firefox. Right click the page (not the video), and go to View Page Info. Hit the media tab, and then scroll through and find the video.

+1

That's one of the great features of Firefox that many people don't even know about.

Yeah, I use it all the time on sites like IMDB that cover their pictures with an invisible dummy image so you can't click them.

If you're still having trouble you can get the video downloader extension from firefox. Sometimes it helps to find the file (especially if you don't know what format the video is.)
