My MP3 player is getting full and i need to free up some space.

A lot of the music I have on there is 320kbps mp3 which for my MP3 player is rather excessive and probably lowers the battery life too.

I'm looking for a program that I can just give my MP3 directory, have it convert all the files to 192k and save them somewhere else (not overwrite, I want to keep the high quality versions on my PC).

I found one utility to do this... but it would also convert 128k MP3s up to 192k and mp3s which are already 192k to 192k... which is entirely pointless and time-wasting.

Any suggestions?

If you go through Windows Explorer, turn on extra columns (right click on a column name), and turn on "bitrate" you can sort by bitrate and then only select the songs that are above 192.

Besides, all my music is divided into folders like Artist\Album\track.mp3 and i'd have to go through every folder doing that.

Do a search on your music folder for *.mp3 and then sort those results.

I'm pretty sure Winamp5 will transcode as it uploads to your mp3 player.
