Frequencey of Firefox Updates

Does anyone notice they are getting more frequent? This morning it upgraded to 2.0.0.8. A lot of security fixes each time (fixes for that than just new features). Yes Firefox is better than IE7 of course, but it seems like the 2x series needs a lot more improvements and fixes than the original 1x series.

Yep. I think they've fallen into the "oops, security leak" mode that Microsoft lives in.

I had to reinstall all of my bookmarks and plugins after the update. I hate the buggy bookmarks and stuff. >=^(

Maybe now that Firefox is wildly popular, more people are trying to find security leaks?
woot!

Firefox has become very unstable for me at work, crashing (the kind when the program quits) all the time.

Ugh honestly I just wish they would fix whatever the hell makes it take up so much RAM.

It feels so bloated now.

Why do so many people care about updates?

I havn't had a problem at all with Firefox.

Voice of reason.

My only Firefox gripe is its memory use.

Have you tried going into about:config, and adding a new boolean that sets a limit on firefox's memory cache?

Could be an extension, or something else in your profile. Try using safe-mode or creating a new profile (with the -profile-manager command).

IE7 is quite extensible, but most of the extensions are made by asscans that are audacious enough to charge money for them. :argh:

I just use it because it has never done the following;

  • Deleted all my book marks for no reason
  • Used more and more of my ram until my computer half-froze
  • Taken a dump while I was trying to do something important like pay bills

I don't mind updates, especially for the security issues. I'm glad they're transparent about it and fix things quickly, rather than stick their head in the sand and pretend everything is fine when all the evidence points to the opposite.

I don't mind the updates either, particularly because although it closes the browser window, it reopens it with all your tabs still saved.

I don't mind either, except when it went through this weird phase of telling me to update with a version older than what I was running. That went on for a few months, until the most recent update.
