What are your favorite Star Wars games?
2007-10-22, 4:11 PM #1
Today I saw a bundle pack at Target featuring "5 of the greatest Star Wars Games." And they were definitely not the greatest.

So I thought it'd be cool to make a ginourmous poll to find out which are the best.

Let me know if I left any off. I skipped a few of the GBA ones.

Republic Commando, JO, Jedi Power Battles and possibly Battlefront 2.
nope.
2007-10-22, 4:21 PM #3
Jedi Knight, Dark Forces, Rogue Squadron.
2007-10-22, 4:22 PM #4
tie fighter
2007-10-22, 4:23 PM #5
As much as it pains me to say it now, I used to love SWG.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

Damnit I forgot TIE Fighter..

Out of curiosity, what were the 5 games in the pack that weren't the greatest?
2007-10-22, 4:27 PM #9
DF, JK, KotOR, RC

X-Wing vs Tie Fighter
Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight
Rogue Squadron
Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader
Rogue Squadron II: Rebel Strike
Knights of the Old Republic
Masters of Teras Kasi

I liked a number of the NES and SNES games, but they certainly weren't my FAVORITE. Masters of Taras Kasi was a HORRIBLE game, but I loved the novelty of it.

TIE, XWA, JK, JO.

And yes, that "best of" pack was a crock.

Dark Forces, JK and the three Super Star Wars games for the SNES. I like a lot of the other ones, but I never got much experience with them (other than Shadows of the Empire, which was only mediocre IMO, and the original X-Wing, but I was too young to enjoy it)

Also Lego Star Wars is great

The entire DF/JK series except for JA. JA was a decent game, but didn't really add to the series. JO, even with all its faults, had some very amazing moments.

KotOR and KotOR II, especially the first, are unbelievable. They are EASILY the best Star Wars games since JK.

KotOR without a doubt the best SW game ever made. Then Tie Fighter. Then JK.

I haven't really played many of these games, so my list is:

JK, JO, SuperSW RotJ, and I don't think it was on the list, but I freaking LOVE that arcade game where you have a joystick and two or so buttons. You can play through ANH to RotJ. It is :awesome:.

I don't get what people see in Kotor. I really didn't like it at all. I'd much rather play RC.

Really? Wow. I guess the turn based combat could be off-putting.

I probably could've done without the combat aspect all together. Just hearing the story was awesome enough. It was an EU book come to life.

It was better than most good EU books.

Many EU books are great. Unlike Kevin J. Anderson's Dark Crystal Saber Star II where the clone of a clone of a clone of Emperor Palpatine constructs a new Death Star prototype. :downswords:

DF, JK, MotS, even JO, TIE Fighter, XWA, KotOR, KotOR 2 (until the end), Rebellion, RC, SotE (yeah I liked it)

JA had some good levels now and then but I wouldn't count it as a favorite.

And I probably forgot something.

Kotor has some of the best storyline, music, and characters in video games period. If you gave up early, you owe it to yourself to give it another play through. It's a game that anyone who considers themselves an RPG or Star Wars fan shouldn't miss.

I realized I forgot Droidworks a few minutes after I posted the poll. :(

KotOR, JK & DF.
The majority of those I've never played.

Beta SWG holds a special place in my heart, before they went and ruined the entire game 7 days before release.

I voted for ESB (NES/Arcade) over Super Star Wars: ESB.

I'm hoping that was the ESB I played and loved on some kind of Nintendo at my friend's house when I was 8 years old??? No idea if it was NES or SNES other than those snow-walkers were damn hard to kill at 7AM in the morning.

Also Emon, I remember you being a major defender of JA over JO 4-5 years ago?? (when the "argh! JO is not the same as JK!" argument was going on). Dim, beer-addled memory I admit, but I am certain you were among the advocates of what JA introduced that JO didn't.

Don't get me wrong I much prefer JA over JO, and frankly like JA for what it represents by itself. But I guess I could be valuing gameplay over storyline.

DF, JK, KotOR I & II, SWBF I & II... I would say MotS, but it isn't on the list... damn, forgot to tag Rebel Assault II.

Here's why KOTOR wasn't good as say BG2 or PS:T but was good as a Star Wars game:

The game quest consisted entirely of doing what most other RPGs relegate to side-quests or short chapters of the main quest. ie, "I hear there are n of [some item], I guess I'll have to search out each and every one of them". Couldn't they have thought of something a bit more interesting than just making you find 4 star maps on 4 worlds? The fact that you can do them in any order means you know there won't be any major plot revelations on the worlds themselves. The only plot revelation during that part of the game was between worlds 3 and 4, the rest was just character banter.
