Has anyone tried "Tag Mode" in the DS Zelda Phantom Hourglass? It seems like it's supposed to randomly trade ship parts or treasures, but it doesn't matter how long I leave my DS in "Tag Mode" it never trades them. My wireless connection is working fine for "Battle Mode" too, so I don't think it's a connection issue. Anyone had any luck with this?

I think you have to have friends with the game though.

If you trade parts over the internet, you have to swap friend codes on a forum then battle each other. Locally, have both people put stuff in the boxes.

Thanks to tag mode, I have the parts I need and have 7 hearts on my ship. Going for 8.

So, I have to find someone with a friend code, then battle them, then do we get to choose what we trade, or does the winner pick, or what?

You get the fc. You battle, regardless of winner, you swap whatever is in your boxes. That's why it's risky trading online. You don't know what is truly in the other box until you have it.

Huh, seems like it would have been a lot more fun if they let you just trade.

Wait a sec, again. I am completely confused. When I start up the game and choose my profile, it asks me if I want to go into "Adventure," "Battle," or "Tag Mode." If I choose "Tag Mode" it tells me to close the DS (but don't turn it off) and come back later, presumably so it can trade some items automatically. Because when I get back on, it says, "Let's see if the transfer happened!" (but it never does). petmc20, have you been able to figure that part out? I understand the battle mode, but that's not the same as tag mode, I don't think.

Basically, you only use the tag mode in the main menu if your friend is nearby.

If over the net, you must swap fc then battle.

petmc20, how does it tell if my friend is nearby? Meaning, I don't see a place to type in a friend code, so how would that work?

Closeby, you do not need a fc. Only for over the net.
