I'm on the last leg of an all-nighter... sun-up in less than an hour.

Gris hates all-nighters. But! Gris got a lot of work done. :tinfoil:

What's the longest you've stayed up straight? Care to share all-nighter stories?

My roommate last year stayed up three days back to back studying for an exam... that he ended up sleeping through :suicide: .

35 hours, would have made 36 but my mom wouldn't shut up and let me try and stay awake.

There's a thread about it on Massassi from about a year and a half ago. I'd never pulled one before, and wanted to.
I had a blog. It sucked.

well, I've two all-nighters during my university life, think the longest one was hitting 30-35 hrs at the end but I can't be sure.

I've also done an all-nighter here an there when catching planes early in the morning with the intention of sleeping on the plane which never seems to happen.
People of our generation should not be subjected to mornings.

We all nightered for a video game redesign project presentation. 2 powerpoints, 20 sketches, and a 5 page synopsis of each game element and characters. Overall we ended up with something like 100 pages of content to the other groups 10 or 20.

We also talked about a guy we all knew and how we found out he was a necrophiliac. Good times, and it turned out to be 51 hours before I got to sleep.

Honestly I think this is the most repeated thread on Massassi.

I've had two the entire semester so far. Not too bad. I don't mind them, but my sleep gets thrown off until the weekend usually.

i do an all-nighter every week, usually on thursday nights or sunday nights. my own damn fault for procrastinating.
2007-10-31, 2:01 PM #15
Don't remember what my longest was, probably 40 hours or so.

On weekends I usually end up doing at least 20 hours one day, due to being up early for work or class on one day and then staying out/up late.

I rarely pull a true all-nighter, but I occasionally stay up until 5 or 6, sleep a couple of hours, and then wake up and start working again.

Senior year I spent 24 hours on a research paper which I was turned in the next morning, after which I stayed up another 24 in order to go to Gradnight and Disney world... 48 hours straight was not fun.

I´ve had three all nighters, on the third I promised my self to never again leave homework for the last few hours on a week end... especially since I was supposed to have started it 4 weeks ago...
Nothing to see here, move along.

Just a few weeks ago, went just barely under 40 hours while driving from Minnesota back to Idaho, then after I got home, staying up and playing WoW for several hours before finally crashing. Woke up at 4am, drove.. got home about 6:30am the following day, then stayed up the rest of the day, went to sleep about 8:30pm.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

I've only done an honest to god all nighter once - last year, when I had 2 projects due the next morning - one of them being an entire marketing campaign for the local salvation army, and I also had my voice jury that day.

Well actually, there was the time freshman year when my friend has an emergency and I stayed up all night with her in a hospital - but I took a nap at noon that day, so last year was the only real one

But I have gone several days with only like 2 or so hours of sleep every night

[edit] oh wait! this year too, when I had to get up at like 5 am to go on this trip. But again, I slept in the car a little [/edit]
Fincham: Where are you going?
Me: I have no idea
Fincham: I meant where are you sitting. This wasn't an existential question.

If you are doing an all-nighter it means you either procrastinated (usually my case), you're doing something really interesting/worthwhile that you don't need to sleep, or your teachers decide to be bastards and give you a lot to do (usually not my case, but I use this excuse sometimes).

Like three or four days in boot camp. I know it was at least three, but I can't remember if a fourth snuck in there somewhere.

Or you're taking a PT test after a midnight shift, followed by six hours of training 20+ miles away. :P

I think about 44 hours for me in college. Got up at 7 the first day. Went to classes and all that. Then pulled the all-nighter doing work (I think it was the proposal for my senior thesis...not sure). Continued working through the next day and went out with friends that night to bars and such. Came back around 3 am and passed out.

It took me a few days to feel normal again.
2007-11-02, 5:36 PM #31
I stay up for 24 hours every time I wake up at 10pm.

I'm actually kind of used to it.

Feeling like a zombie is pulling an all-nighter and then being goaded into staying up until 3:00 drinking like 8 liters of vodka and Red Bull. And I don't normally drink.

That was basically the ****tiest decision ever.
