Dear sweet god it's like they made my Star Wars nerd dreams a reality.
I had KOTOR 2 for the Xbox lieing around here, While my computer was down for a while (HDD crash) i ended up starting up and... Wow. Even though it seems like it was released in beta.

So now i have KOTOR 1 installing. Is that the better one?
2007-10-31, 3:37 PM #2
I think so.

I thought that was starting this week?
Oh well.

KotOR 1 had a better opening and ending. KotOR 2 had better everything else.

Really? it was hard to tell because half the game was completely broken.

I want to try KOTOR but I can't fit it on my computer.
2007-10-31, 3:46 PM #7
KOTOR was way too easy, KOTOR2 ramped up the difficulty some, and I think had more engaging characters, while KOTOR had a more engaging story. However, the bugginess of KOTOR2 tips the scale.

I'm gonna go with KOTOR.

Played through KotOR but it took me awhile to get into it. When I did I was hooked. I got stuck somewhere in KotOR2. I was on the moon (or something) orbitting a devastated planet (or something). I believe I accomplished all I needed to to move down to the surface but I couldn't progress any further for some reason. I started it again awhile ago and didn't follow through. I'll start it again someday but right now it's just yet another one of my unfinished games.

I stopped around that point too Wookie, but I just lost interest, I never did finish the moon part.

KOTOR1 is amazing.

Sometime, I will play it again and learn to play the damned card game. Really do the whole game a heap of justice.
2007-10-31, 9:24 PM #18
You've convinced me to play it again.

Bah, the card game.

I just tried dual booting yesterday to play KotOR 2 on XP (I've tried all solutions for Vista), and the install somehow failed and then my bootloader was ****ed but I couldn't manually restore it (it said it worked, but it didn't!) so I had to reinstall Vista. :(

KOTOR > KOTOR 2
Simply because I beat both games, but KOTOR actually played the end cutscene...
KOTOR 2 managed to let me play the whole game without toooo much trouble, then died on the end cutscene (and the final battle was buggy too). So I still don't know how the game actually ends.

KotOR is the better game, KotOR2 would have been the better game if it hadn't been horribly rushed. There's infinitely more depth to KotOR2's exploration of morality, but the shoddy ending kind of ruins the narrative and you end up having to play through several times to figure out what the writers really had in mind.

kept crashing on the half rebel half imperial planet (or something like that). i needed to go through a door but kept crashing on load, so stopped playing. what a pity.

Simply don't suck at it. ;) It helps a lot to buy good cards when you get the chance.

Post Taris, but Taris is the longest segment of the game.

Damnit, I really love the whole galactic trek thing.
Taris i don't give a damn about, Blow it up and let me get on with life.

KOTOR hates my graphics card and crashes every 30 minutes.
nope.

The ruins of the academy on Malachor V begin to collapse, the Ebon Hawk swoops you off, and there is a scene of the ship flying into the horizon.

Thats it.

It was crap.

It was rushed.

I've been playing for about 2 weeks now. I liked KoTOR 2 for the fact that they had more saber color options and force powers. KoTOR had a better story though. And I never had any problems with KoTOR 2 running.
obviously you've never been able to harness the power of cleavage...

2007-11-01, 4:35 PM #31
Kotor 2 was way more linear. That annoyed me.
2007-11-02, 2:33 AM #32
If they had finished KotOR 2 it would've been much better, all characters had a deeper background.
I guess LA forced Obsidian to release the game before it was finished.
Sorry for the lousy German

Yes, it was released early for Christmas.

If you have an ATI card with relatively recent driver versions you cannot play KOTOR1 past Dantooine. And that's assuming you won't stall out in other places with similar problems, like the undercity.
2007-11-02, 6:39 AM #35
Im going akong just fine...
2007-11-02, 7:22 AM #36
The twist in KotOR was better than the second one (did it even really have an overall storyline twist?), tho the characters were much better and I liked also how you could influence your characters as well to one side or the other. I think there needs to be a third one.... :ninja:

I think before a 3rd one, they need to make the 1st and the 2nd so they're not piles of bugs.

Now that I think about it, playing an MMO made by bioware sounds like the 7th circle of hell.
