I'd love to learn that, but I'd give up after planting my face firmly in the ground the first time I fall.

On another note... I won't be truly impressed until I see dud going at it Casino Royale style. :p

What does crawling up stairs backwards have to do with parkour? It isn't efficient or flowing at all

But for training it certainly helps :p

:awesome:

I never can do the bloody wall walking stuff. I always end up scratched from that! :argh:

Some of that stuff looks just awesome. I might have some questions on how to later on, but if I brake a leg or something... :argh: :gonk: :argh: :gonk: :argh:
Nothing to see here, move along.

phoenix_9286 - It's all about NOT faceplanting. Be careful, progress slowly, know your limits and respect them, and you're less likely to get hurt than you would be playing soccer or football.

Phantom-Seraph - The first part of the video is primarily strength/conditioning exercises that we do (that are heavily parkour influenced), and the second half is more straight-parkour. I really love doing the QM (quadrupedal motion (the thing going DOWN the stairs)), and it's a really fantastic full-body workout, but going up stairs like that is too easy, so the crab-walks up the stairs maintain the intensity of the workout.

Maeve - Then do so! There's a HUGE community in London, some of the best traceurs in the WORLD. http://www.parkourgenerations.com/classes.php?p=women <-- here's an all-female class that meets in London. They also have a bunch of other classes. Barring that, I think a lot of the london crowd talks on www.parkour.net, so you can probably go to a bunch of real jams there (real jam versus gym/instructional session (you can learn just as well at a "real" jam)).

DarkJediBob - None, actually. And they won't be a problem in the future. Monday I had a meeting with a group of officers, and gave a presentation on Parkour. The best way to describe their reaction was Flawless Victory.

Oh I realize that. I'm just saying that first shot that's probably what I'd end up doing, as I'm horribly uncoordinated, and fail at anything remotely athletic.

It's something I'd love to do, but the whole laziness aspect regarding practice gets in the way :P

I'll go out and play paintball, but I don't have to practice for that.

Actually, it's exactly the same. When you're out doing paintball, you are, in effect, practicing. When we go out to train, we are, in effect, doing parkour.

So you see, you have no excuse. (BTW- are you back up here yet?)

Does that mean I can stand on the side and shoot you while you try to climb the stairs backwards?

Didn't you break something a while back? Was that because this advice is wrong or because you didn't follow it?

I envy you so much. The one thing that really makes me genuinely hate being crippled is parkour videos.

I can do nearly all of those exercises though. Maybe I should practice parkour, and know/respect my limits of not being able to participate in what I'm training for. I'd lose weight!

I'm in Philly through winter quarter, so I won't be back up until March.

Haha, really? I was in Philly a few weekends ago for a big Parkour jam... There's a lot of guys over at Drexel and in the surrounding area.

Freelancer - Yeah, I broke a bone in my hand. That was because I got cocky and lost focus. My philosophy is that I don't count it as an injury if I learn something from it. It taught me never lose your focus, no matter how easy something is. Always be 100% in the moment.
