You can get cheaper shipping if you use USPS and do it through their media parcel service, specifically for mailing CDs, casettes, tapes etc. Most everything else, no matter who ships it, has a 5-6 dollar minimum.

but i still have to buy the envelope and i already put his games in a priority mail box

by the time you add up the cost of shipping plus the padded envelope it's almost the same as what it costs for priority mail and the boxes are free

Buy the envelope? I'd just throw it in a regular one and wrap it in something soft, or use tissue. But oh well.
