Anyone experienced with it before?

I'm thinking of getting some small cheap laptop just for basic functions.

I'm assuming that your second link is supposed to be to the Asus eee.

I'm pretty sure everyone has dealt with solid state memory before. It's basically a big chunk of flash memory you can use as a hard drive.

I doubt everybody has experience with a true solid state hard drive. The tech is old, but the application and retail venture is new. Some new Sony notebooks have been getting solid state drives for a few months now. They're quick, but don't expect it to be night and day fast or anything. Unless you're comparing Windows installation times (or Linux if that's your thing). File copy operations are fast as hell.

Eh? Last I checked, they were barely faster, and in some cases, slower. The seek times, however, were incredibly low.

I should have invested in this stuff when i heard about it a few years back. Like mentioned before, old tech, new application. Just needed to get it out there. Maybe it will take off.

Well they had a Fujitsu Ultraportable Laptop which I wanted, but apparently they don't have the page anymore.
