I think I've mentioned before that I'm currently a Psychology undergraduate. For one of our assignments this semester we've been divided into groups and are required to gather as many respondents to a questionnaire as we can. So as you can guess, I'd appreciate it a lot if some of you could take the time to fill out a short questionnaire (50 questions, of the "Agree/Disagree" variety) concerning your attitude towards death.

If you'd like to help me out, please bear in mind that I'd need you to fill out a similar questionnaire in a couple of weeks time. I'd also point out that if you've recently experienced a death in the family or close friend, some of the questions may be slightly upsetting.

There's no trick or hidden test behind this questionnaire; it's simply measuring attitude change over time, and comparing the difference between religious individuals and those who aren't.

And to reiterate a point made within the questionnaire document itself, everything will be kept strictly confidential. The details you're asked to give (mother's maiden name, date of birth, and e-mail address) are just so we can identify participants for the second questionnaire.

If you could send your completed questionnaires to my email address (lividdk at gmail dot com), that'd be great :) Thanks in advance.

(Naturally, it'll be a bit of a pain to "circle the appropriate response" on a computer. So unless you want to screw around with the auto-shapes on your word processor, just make sure your choice is clearly marked however you feel best. Underline it, delete the others, etc.)

Thanks :D

As an aside, as Axis found out, you can also e-mail your questionnaire to me at the Hotmail address in my profile :P

I'm trying to fill it out, but there's lots of things that are obstructing me. Some of the questions are vague for me.

I sent it with comments on almost every question. I know I'm bad. :(

Your results for this will be biased.

I have a problem giving out my mom's maiden name and birthdate-types of information over the internet. Is there any other kind of identifier I can give that doesn't involve credit card account information?

Yeah, I thought that was a really dumb identifier.

They're supposed to be. The responses I get from Massassi are going to form less than a quarter of the total responses we're aiming for. We need roughly half and half of the responses to be from the extreme ends of the viewpoints of death (i.e. 50% religious and 50% non-religious respondents). This might be slightly unclear because I'm a bit hypoglycaemic at the moment and it screws up my concentration, but hopefully you get what I'm trying to say :P

Edit in an attempt to clarify: if I took this questionnaire to the Pope and asked him to fill it out, I would naturally be expecting a certain response that would be different than what I would expect if I gave this questionnaire to one of them emo types. This study isn't about proving that Christians will think more positively about death than Athiests (for example), it's how these attitudes might change over time. If some of you are thinking that this study sounds silly, due to the fact that it's only taking place over a matter of weeks, then you're probably right. The priority for it, however, is more as an introduction for us students towards the nature of qualitative research, as well as the appropriate statistical tests.

I do understand your concern. This questionnaire was written mostly with the intent to be given to people in the flesh. If you'd like, you can choose something more like a password, or even a pets name (just make a note of it if you choose to do so). I'm currently saving everyones response as their name followed by "questionnaire", so the identifier isn't exactly necessary but helps keep every response I get in line with the rest of my groups.

Anovis: in this case, we're using the broadest possible definition of religious. Basically, athiests/agnostics vs. everyone else. If you're Christian, Muslim, whatever, you're "religious". As for your results, this isn't intended to be a quiz or test. In a few weeks time I'll be asking everyone who replied to complete a questionnaire again, and then we compare the two results. I can tell you what happened at that stage, and if there was any difference.

For your questions, I can try and clear up the ones you had specific problems with. However, if you were simply unsure about what you thought then the "Unsure" option was the right one to choose.
