I hate growing a beard
2007-11-10, 2:09 AM #1
November around the office is affectionately donned "Novembeard". There's a contest and those who wish to enter put $5 into a locked box and there it sits until the end of the month. The person who grows the most awesome beard by December wins and chooses the charity that the money goes to. I never win because my beard takes FOREVER to grow.

Right now it itches like crazy. Anybody else participate in Novembeard or something similar?

Movember

I think it's for prostate cancer research or something like that. It's an office-wide thing at work, pretty darn amusing how many people are walking around with handlebar mos.

We're trying to float the idea of lingerie February, or as we call it 'Lingruary'.

I've had a beard for almost 9 months now.

The first month is the worst, after that there are no problems.

You could've gotten a head start by growing your beard as soon as you left work on Halloween night.

Yeah, but that's all the time he's going to spend growing the beard. :-P

I've found that it the woods, I can grow beards just fine without any irritation at all. Not sure why... but yeah, things get somewhat itchy for a few weeks after I start growing a beard out in civilization.

November is beard time mainly because winter tends to begin a month early here.

it's a pain in civilization though, but you get used to it.

During finals I usually don't shave for a couple of weeks, mainly because I don't go to work during that time, and I have better things to do (like cramming).

I didn't shave when I was out on my assignment and am growing my beard out.

If the beard it itchy, using conditioner helps a lot.

I haven't been clean shaven in 7 years.

I never experience itchiness in the first few weeks. My beard itches while longer than an inch or so. :( But I'm growing it longer regardless. Dandruff shampoo helps a lot.

I know some people who are doing No-Shave November, but I'm not one of them. I simply can't grow a beard.

I've been growing mine out since early september. No significant itchyness, but it sucks when I'm doing boat work and need to wear a respirator. The beard keeps it from being a tight fit. I think if I start doing work more often I'm going to have to shave. :(

I started doing No-Shave-November on my campus, but after a few days I realized I needed to look clean-cut and professional, so I stopped.

I hate shaving. My eyebrows don't grow any longer, why can't the rest of my face do the same!?

Regulation moustache.

Or do soldiers not rate staches? It used to be that soldiers rated nose hair, Marines rated staches, and sailors rated beards.

We made fun of the braided nose hair and beards and hazed anyone with a stache.

I think the beards thing was before any of our times though. Like before WWI time.

So anyway I want a regulation stache from you.

Novemberd? That sounds ridiculous. In new zealand we have a thing called Movember, in which the aim of the game is to grow a mustache for the sake of mens health awareness of things like prostate cancer.
Take that there and put it in here

I just shaved mine off tonight. It had been so long I'd forgotten what it felt like to be clean-shaven.

(Lately, I'd gotten tired of my beard, and I made a mistake while trimming it the other day)

I just shaved most of my beard off :(
