An Auckland student has invented a product which can turn a warm can of beer into a chilled drink within seconds, just in time for summer.

Isn't summer just starting in the south hemisphere, since winter is just starting in the north?

Drink Guinness cold, then drink it warm. You'll be surprised at the difference you find, and how awesome a warm beer is.

However, there's something to be said about a cold beer (or 12) after getting off work.

Nice device. Unfortunately, it indirectly causes this:

Some beers, generally the better ones, are better served cool (around 50F), because they have less flavor when very cold. Cheaper beers are served so cold to cover up the bad or lack of flavor.

Cool isn't the same as warm.

For downing pints and succeeding in drinking games, room temperature is best.

The difference in 3 pint challenge times between cold beer and warm beer is very noticable.

My favourite beers are served room temperature. I like some beers that are served cold, but they PALE INTO INSIGNIFICANCE next to a decent ale.

Yes, but generally any time someone refers to "warm beer" they mean not ice cold. The actual definition of the word "warm" implies above room temperature, which I think is not what anyone is referring to.

Yeah, I remember reading about it in a science book back in 5th or 6th grade about using compressed CO2 (I think) in a can of soda that was released when the can was opened. Cooled the entire can in something like 3 seconds.

Too many times I've had to bring home brand new beer and wait for it to get cold in the fridge. This is a great idea.
