Assassin's Creed

Has anyone bought or played it yet? Impressions? Despite the mixed feelings from IGN and 1Up, I think I'm going to pick it up later today.

I debated back and forth with myself for a long time on whether I should get Assassin's Creed or Mass Effect. I finally decided I would get ME, mainly because it looks like a FPS version of KOTOR (and it was created by Bioware, mind you).

The thing about Assassin's Creed that didn't really interest me is that it seemed like a mixture between Oblivion's thief character and Prince of Persia. I really liked Oblivion, but that was just because it was huge, open, and gave you a lot of flexibility. However I've never really liked the Prince of Persia/Tomb Raider type games that focus more on difficult camera angles and jumping puzzles rather than the combat.

However I may pick it up down the road sometime in the future. Let us know how it goes.

Friend of mine has it. He's on live playing right now. Tried calling twice to see what he thinks if it and he hasn't answered. .... *******.

Don't have the time to play through the game this week, so I'm just going to save it for post-Mass Effect.

Heavily considering it, this is one game where I really wish there was a demo to help my choice.

This game is just amazing.

I just got past the first little starting area where your order resides, and into Damascus. Holy crap. When you hit your first perch, and you really see just how massive this city is, you're just in awe. Then you realize that you can freerun pretty much anywhere in the city, and get the assassinations done in any manner that you see fit. Of course there can be sort of a standard method to move from information to the kill, but with this type of game, you don't have to follow it, it's up to you.

Altair is a really interesting character. He starts out cocky, better than everyone, then quickly gets chopped down to size, abandoned by his brotherhood and left to fend for himself. The beginning of the game is a very humbling experience.

I'm absolutely loving it. I mean, seriously, Metroid meets Grand Theft Auto: Damascus 1191? Count me in.

This is not a Mass Effect discussion. This is a discussion on how awesome Assassin's Creed is.

الطائر is just one of those amazing video game characters that kicks a ton of ***. The game is very much environment interactive, but it also has a lot of interesting ways to assassinate targets. The cities are large. The storyline is solid. And after playing Oblivion and riding horses everywhere, you will even become amazed at how awesome riding is. (I only mention this because I just started riding >.>)

Buy it.

When you complete your first assassination, your master tells you to go to Jerusalem or Acre. I think there's 3 (or is it 9?) assassinations per city, so I've really only just started.
