Continuation of SP level contest?
2007-11-15, 1:53 PM #1
It saddened me that only three submissions were made. A lot of people started to contribute, but ran out of time or didn't want to be pressured into doing it so quickly.

So I was thinking, if people want to continue it, maybe instead of a deadline, simply create a level pack from the first, say, five submissions? That way contestants are competing against each other instead of against time.

Fine idea, but there probably will never be a proper SP release for a JK game ever again. No standalone, no pack. Oh well.

I'm absolutely swamped this semester. Very, exteremely swamped due to being in this department. So I can't continue this or atleast at a good, consistant quality for this semester. However, I do I have weeks of freetime when I get off for winter break. Personally, I have other SP ideas in mind, always wanted to create a nice SP story.

I just take too long, always on the little details. :(

I'm going back to work on my JK level over winter break.

I was really curious to see Freelancer's level. And Blood_Asp's.

What about a revised contest. Instead of making a level ,you make one room with your best architecture, maybe a custom character/enemy or two and take a screen shot. Best action/design shot wins.

This way there is less work on making a whole level and all work can be put towards makeing the best looking scene!!!

What fun is an action shot without a context to put it in?

I'd sure like to be able to play something new though... :(

It would have probably been a better idea to make the contest over the summer, when people have more time.

Or maybe timed around the 10 yr anniversary of JK... or was it MotS? One of them is still coming up.

I really wanted to make a level, I even had a cool idea... but I was just too busy these last couple of months.
If we have another contest, and a deadline that isn't too soon, I'll definitely make it.

Ya know guys, there doesn't have to be a contest going on for you to submit a level :p

Except no one uploads levels anymore at Massassi, so submitting at times where there is no contest would be a waste of time.

If its a good action shot you dont need context. Like a fight scene or something.

Its a dumb idea I know but Im just thowing it out there :smith:
