I've never read any of his books but I'm impressed by the films that he inspired.

Blade Runner - Maybe a little dark for some but I like it

Total Recall - Interesting, action, somewhat hokey effects, but I like it

The Minority Report - Interesting in that it criticizes both privatized government services and liberal policy

Screamers - Don't remember too much about this one.

Paycheck - Enjoyed the film.

A Scanner Darkly - Fell asleep during this one.

Next - Watched a few weeks ago and got me to thinking about the variety of films based on Dick's work. Enjoyed it too, by the way.

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (Blade Runner) was a really good book.

Philip K Dick is one of my favorite writers. His stuff his really great. The films are decent (A Scanner Darkly most closely follows the original work), but they tend to dumb down his ideas a lot.

I second the recommendation of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Its a good introduction into Dick's catalog if you're interested in reading some of his books.

Philip K. Dick is one of the best authors of all time. Seriously. Pick up his collection of Short Stories, "Eye of the Sybil." Then read "The Electric Ant."

That story pretty much changed my life. I love it so much. Other than that, he has a lot of really great novels. Movies have yet to do him justice. I'll make another post when I'm not exhausted with some novel suggestions. (ha ha pun)

Blade Runner was pretty damn good, and the super directors cut is coming out as well. Me wants so bad.

I've only read the book Blade Runner was based on, really awesome.

Definitely getting the 5-disc-set and the new soundtrack release next month.
