So my graphics card kicked the bucket in my main PC and I'm looking to replace it. Anyone got any suggestions? I was looking at the new 8800 but it says it needs a 1 x 6-pin Supplementary Power Connector and I have no clue what it looks like. So yeah, basically suggest graphic cards. Preferably no more than $300.

That's a standard PCI-E power connector and the card will come with an adapter if your power supply doesn't have one.

I see, but what would it plug into?

The 8800 comes with a 6 pin power adapter, at least mine did. All you need is an open power connector from you PSU (maybe 2, can't remember) to use it.

Yeah, I'm just not sure what I'm looking for when your talking about an open power connector.

They're the cords that resemble this coming out of your power supply. You need to have 2 of them that aren't being used.

I had to take one out of a part of the computer that is basically something HP tacked on for expanding junk thats useless. But yeah I've got 2.

6 pin is a standard PCI-E Power plug.
If you don't have one you,
A- Don't have PCI-E
B- Need a new PSU

When I bought my x1950 pro, It required a 2x3 pin adaptor. Included was a cable similar to what Stormtrooper posted, which basically robs power from any device requiring a Molex connecter (CD Drive, HDD, etc). If you want, I'll post a picture of my computer and what I'm talking about.

3850 XT or whatever ATI's refresh is. Beats out the 8800GT at some games at 90 bucks cheaper and a helluvalot more available.

If you're looking for budget.

I see, Reid a pic would be cool since you offered anyway.

I've never had an ATI card before its always been Nvidia. It there any major differences?

ATI drivers work on vista :v:

But seriously, not much of one. Your driver set and control panel are a little different--ATI has the upper hand right now. Your biggest differences come in the smaller production companies--Sapphire, VisionTek, Chaintech, BFG etc etc.
