He's looking for an AGP card.

Haha, I was waiting for that one. I can justify $30 month for me and my wife. It's not a 'huge' amount of money for entertainment that we are fully using. :P Hell, it's one of the few things we can agree on doing together. That's worth $100 a month imho. ;)

Anyway, my whole reasoning for wanting to spend around $50 has been stated. I guess I'm one of those that wants instant gratification. :P I still haven't made a decision though, and it would be logical to get the most bang for my buck. Tax returns are only 2 months away.

Since I only have AGP, is the 7900 GS as good as I can go? The list that Emon linked to is slightly confusing. I've got a Celeron 2.93ghz CPU, and from what I can tell, the 7900 GS is better than the 8600 GT? I don't want to invest in something that's going to turn out like the FX. :(

The 7900 GS is basicly top line DX9.

Hrmmm, after reading the extensive reviews on newegg.com I don't know. Like, half of the people who reviewed it, had the XFX (the only 7900 GS AGP I could find on there) go out in minutes to months. Some also say it's a power hog too, and a new PSU might be necessary. =\ (I've got a 400w) Not knowing whether or not they have ample cooling or are overclocking it, I'm iffy on it now. Also, not a huge issue, but it's a 'bit big' and it'll be within milimeters of my RAM thingers that you push to pop out the ram. The FX 5500 I have now is made by XFX, and I haven't had a single problem out of it, well, except the part about being an FX series. :P

I'd never overclock and I'm guessing I have ample cooling: 2 120mm fans chugging away at 1500-2000 rpms, one at the front, one at the back, the PSU has a 120mm fan inside in addition to the regular one on the back of the case, and a 80mm on the side. Airflow is in front/side to out back. I just ran WoW at max everything with all the card options turned on. CPU got up to a max of 60c, and the two other zone sensors were at a max of 40c and 45c. At Idle (after 10 mins of cooldown), I get 45c for cpu, and 34c on the other zones. I guess the 2nd zone sensor is near the vid card. Man, it looked so damn pretty, but 8fps sucks. :P

You'll be fine on the PSU, but XFX is definitely not the brand to be getting. See if you can find a deal elsewhere (froogle, pricegrabber, etc).
