Which way is the dancer spinning?

She naturally spins clockwise for me. However, by looking at the shadow, I can force myself to look back up and see the opposite. If I look away again, though, it usually goes back to clockwise.

Both ways.

When I first saw the image it was counter-clockwise and then I saw it going clockwise the next day.

Clockwise if you look at it frame by frame, but Free hit the nail on the head for the illusion.

Freelancer is such a cheater. But it's still amazing for me that I can't look at both at the same time going in opposite directions. I see one and they both turn the same way, then I notice the other and they swap. without the over-lapping and shading and background context for it all, it continues to mess with my mind!

the real trip geb is to try and get the "clockwise" labeled version to spin counter-clockwise.

Counter-clockwise.

I can pretty much use the shadow as a switch between counter-clockwise and clockwise too.

I can see it's both, but my brain prefers to see the anti-clockwise spin. I have to force myself to see it the other way. I wonder what that says about my brain...?

Well, going by the boobs, clockwise.

supposedly, clockwise means you're "right-brained" and counter-clockwise means you're "left-brained." I don't buy it though.

You shouldn't, because it's a load of crap. It's just an optical illusion.

Ahhh! The first time I looked at it I couldn't see anything except clockwise. I read through the thread wondering how anyone could see different (until I got to Freelancer's cheat), look back to the top and the first thing I thought was "counter-clockwise". Now I can switch between them. Pretty neat.

At first I saw counter-clockwise. But it got really weird, when her lower foot started to spin clockwise!

I can only see her spinning counterclockwise. Can't see the clockwise spin.

[edit: omg, now it's clockwise. Freaky illusion, Sarn.]

At the moment it feels impossible for me to switch from clockwise...
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

concentrate. Try looking at different parts of the picutre. Usually the shadow works best.

I'm discovering that with practice it gets easier.

I naturally see it as clockwise, but can use the shadow to switch it. Every time I come back to it, it's clockwise to me.

I saw clockwise first, but it's a lot harder to switch back to clockwise from counter.
