Tastes like piss. I'm usually pretty tolerant of all sorts of beverages, and I rarely say anything tastes like piss, because most of the time people say that as an exaggeration. But Strongbow cider honestly tastes like urine. The other day I took a nap in the evening, I woke up and walked over to the bathroom, and the place smelled like piss. I thought someone pissed all over the floor. No, it was just a couple guys drinking Strongbow in the living room.

Strongbow is my drink of choice. It doesn't smell that great but Strongbow extra cold on tap is the most refreshing thing ever.

Also, if it tastes like piss you need to stop eating so many apples. :P

Strongbow is by far the worst of all ciders.

I suppose the one time I tried it it wasn't that cold, but I can't imagine it getting much better.

Oh an Detty, Strongbow is a dry cider, according to the label. :suicide:

Yes it does (taste like piss). The only positive I can offer for Strongbow is that it's easy to pour when you're rushed off your feet behind the bar. Then again, I don't find any ciders particularly pleasant.

Emon, the Strongbow range in the US is different to the UK.

Normal Strongbow has a very sharp overpowering flavour made even worse when it's served cold. Ciders like Magners and Bulmers are also pretty bad, but they tend to be smoother and slightly less intense.

Whilst I don't know much about ciders because i'm not a big drinker, whenever i've asked for a dry cider specifically it's always had a more subtle flavour and been more enjoyable to drink.

Pear cider (or Perry) tends to be much nicer than apple ciders because pears are naturally a softer-tasting fruit and are generally much more awesome than apples.

Most mass-produced ciders lose their initial apple flavor.

I remember ads for Woodpecker on the radio back in the day. Some English guy who sounded like a ponce would extoll the virtues of Woodpecker cider to a bunch of gruff Americans drinking microbrews.

Livid just pointed something out to me about the poll. How does TE know what strongbow tastes like? Not only is he 6 years below the legal age, its imported, so a bit harder to get ahold of.

I've nothing to add except that I've only ever seen womenfolk drinking Strongbow. Not a large enough sample to say anything conclusive, just sayin'.
If you think the waiters are rude, you should see the manager.

Sorry, I completely forgot about pear ciders. A guy I used to live with loves Kopparberg (I think that's how it's spelled), which just tasted of fruit with no real alcohol flavour. I still don't think anything can beat the crispness of a nice lager, but that stuff was nice.

I voted yes to the urine comparison, but in my mind strongbow (as well as white lightning and all the 99p/litre ciders) has always been summed up thus:
smells like vomit, tastes like vomit, makes you vomit.

as for pear ciders - again, there are nasty ones out there, but good cider is always lovely. I'm obsessed with Brother's Bar pear cider at the moment, went to a certain pub on saturday specifically because they sold it. Festival strength though, 7.4%. maeve was drunkened.
