I am just wondering what everyone thinks the main returning enemy of the upcomming 4th season of the returned dr who will be. The sontarians have been confirmed as returning, but they will probably be a one off like the macara were. One possibility is The Rani. Also, some people may not yet have heard, as david tennant wil be busy around the time that the 2009 season will be produced, that season will comprise of three telemovies, with the show to return to normal in 2010.

For the telemovie, I believe that we may return to the time war, and see a multi doctor story (RTD said there would be no multi doctor stories, but we have recently had that children in need short that featured the 5th doctor, so there is hope yet) in which may climax with paul mcganns 8th doctor regenerating into ecelston's 9th doctor.

I also believe that mondas cybermen (the original ones from "our" universe) will return before we get to see the 11th doctor. The reason that I think this series will continue for so long is that david tennants tenure has almost reached that of the sixth docter, who had the shortest tenure of the original series, (episode wise that is, but by the end of the 2010 season, he definatly will have overtaken 6 AND 7 timewise as well) though I doubt he will overtake tom baker, and DEFINATLY not paul mcgann (as he has had the longest tenure timewise, as he also has done many audio plays as well as the movie, and also has appeared in many novels) as 8 years is quite a long time for one person to play the doctor, it is even longer than most US tv shows last.

So, basicly, this thread is to discuss what your theories for the future of the revived dr who series are.

personaly, i think that The Rani is comming back in this season. The daleks dont nesessarily have to come back until possibly even the eleventh doctor as only the first and third doctor had more than two dalek stories during their tenures. Other possibilities for villians are; the black gaurdian, omega, the ice warriors (as they are actualy martians, and are familliar to unit as demonstrated recently by them realizeing that the sycorax dont look anything like martians), or even an obscure but popular enemy from the original series.

A note to US posters, Please please please only post here if your knowlege of doctor who goes beyond episodes you have watched on PBS, as they have played relatively little of the whole of the original series.

To anyone who thinks that the daleks can be wiped out, i remind you that they were supposed to have been wiped out by the second doctor in evil of the daleks (he made some daleks have human qualities, and basicly caused a huge civil war on skaro).

Is she really?

I like Catherine Tate. Though I don't know how she'll make as a Dr Who sidekick

you do realize that that is only true in the US, and that only because it was hardly shown at all, and not on any mainstream network. While in the UK and australia, it was and still is a perfectly mainstream show that is enjoyed by many.

not realy, that joke only applies to the US, which is a small market, especialy seeing as how the networks that played it had no idea how to market it, because it was treated as a show for sci-fi nerds when in reality, it was a mainstream show, so only nerds of the day would watch it (because seriously, who can say that they watch PBS unless there is a specific show on that they like), and it is definatly not a show that was made with sci-fi geeks in mind as the major demography, so it was even less popular than it should have been. The fact that very few of the serials were actualy purchased furthered the problem.

it also plays on BBC tv for those of us that have extended cable packages. Or you could have a brother who's downloaded all of it. Those come in handy too. But yeah, the basic point still stands - it's more or less targeted towards the nerdy type
