Doesn't surprise me really. Happens with every big release. Friend of mine got his copy already, though he got lucky that they held it for him(he called in advance) after taking the rest of the shelves. I imagine someone higher up got wind of them doing it and told them to pull them off the shelves.

How early? When was it supposed to come out?

Well, heard of them selling it early yesterday actually. Wasn't sure if it was true or not till friend confirmed it today.

The ship date for preorders is Tuesday, and I think the release date for stores is Wednesday.

I doubt you'd be able to get it now. Looks like the ones that were actually selling it stopped on orders from higher up.

I just called my local best buy. They said August 3, no exceptions. I sat there and tried my best to sweet talk them into releasing it early didnt work though

Meh, all I know is I am going to drag myself out of bed at 7am on the 3rd, and get to best buy before it opens. I expect there will be quite the line, but I've got it pre-ordered, so I am not terribly concerned.

Yea people were able to talk staff in stores to get them a copy from the storage rooms. Needless to say the stores arent happy about that.
I'd say it's near impossible to get a copy now. You're just gonna have to wait like the rest of us.

I remember when Jedi Academy was coming out, I went to Best Buy and tried to get my brother in law to get me a copy early. He said if he did, he'd be terminated.

He has a new job now.

Actually no, I waited the extra day or 2 for it then.

When TPM came out on video, we had it at the Kroger I work at in the back. I went into the storage room and got a copy, then went and bought it before it was released to the public.

I remember when Wind Waker had the special preorder bonus copy of OOT and Master Levels. EB sent me my copy like a week before anyone else got it, so I had Master Levels beaten before most people had it, lol.

lets see... I got pokemon Silver like 2 weeks before it was suppsoed to come out and Game Boy Advance 2 days before it came out.

3rd is ship date for preorders. 4th is release date for retail locations. Ship date for preorders is always one day earlier so that it gives those who preordered a chance to get it on the same day as those who pick it up in a store.
