a new video card.

My price range is about $200. Will buy on Newegg or somewhere and install myself. (if there's a significant improvement for spending a little bit more, I might be willing.)

Post links.

If you old card was a GF 7xxx have you checked and made sure it isn't covered by warranty?

I haven't checked. But I'm going to. In the mean time, I'd like to explore all options.

Good luck finding one in stock.

that would be perfect.. except I have a CRT monitor. Do you know if that would come with an adaptor or two?

Yeah it probably comes with a DVI -> VGA adapter but even if not they cost like 5 bucks.

I've yet to see a card with only DVI ports that does not come with a VGA adapter.

HD3850 from ATI. Find on Newegg or Pricegrabber.

EDIT: Looks like there's that 8800GT in stock. Nevermind, they almost never are. Jump on it.

I know kirbs. But it's Massassi standard.

"Recommend me a PS2 game" etc.. (except the typo of course)

Ordered. :o

I still want to get my other card repaired. I can use both with a dual PCI-E board (which I have), right?

You won't be able to use them in SLI, since they're different. You can probably use them independently if you want to drive a bunch of monitors or something.

is there a point to that? the 8800gt has two DVI outs. WHy would I want each one going to a separate card unless I'm getting the GPU processing of both?

There's little to no benefit in doing so.

The only real point would be if you wanted more than two monitors.
