Try playing a game with WASD controls in Dvorak. I dare you.

yeh, cause most games out there *don't* allow you to REMAP THE KEYS.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

well.. I've never even see a DVORAK keyboard.

So I don't know that I'd be qualified to take you up on that dare.

I swapped the keys around manually on mine. I had taken them all out to clean the keyboard so I figured "hey, why not try a new setup while I'm at it.

The WASD argument is silly because Windows controls the keymaps anyways, so just switch it back to qwerty for playing a game. It's controlled in the language menu thingy on your taskbar so it takes like 2 clicks to change back and forth.

Of course all this will become moot anyways once everyone has an Optimus keyboard.

Anyways I'm currently on a qwerty keyboard right now, on a laptop (my main computer got banned from the university network for torrenting 40 gigs of porn in one night, ****ing fascists). Its not like you lose the ability to type on one keyboard if you use another; you just get a little out of practice with it at worst. It's like if you learn another language, you don't magically forget English.

I use QWERTY but Dvorak is technically better.

I think the transition to Dvorak, if it ever happens, will only come once keyboards like the Optimus Keyboard sell for $20. Once everyone has one of those, you can remap the keys instantly and visually so people might actually try to learn it.

Dvorak really isn't necessary though, since most people can type ridiculously fast with QWERTY as it is. gg insanely dexterous human hands. :awesome:

This.

I'd like to try it some time, though.

I've always used Qwerty. My screen name for video games and Windows Live and other stuff is Qwerty, actually. Is that a sign of complete geekification?
