Pommy's Poll #40: Sweatpants
2007-12-22, 4:15 PM #1
I somehow managed to only agonize Massassi with 9 or so Pommy's Polls this year, so might as well make it 10 to round the year off.

Please post (1) what you think "Sweatpant Etiquette" (i.e. when it's "appropriate to wear sweatpants" is, and (2) success stories regarding making sweatpants fashionable or wearing them in a fashionable ensemble.

I have no stories but at this point I'd rather be comfortable and don't give a ****. I just wouldn't wear them where they're obviously not appropriate via the dress code (formal settings and social occasions for which you're supposed to look not-****ty)

I think sweatpants are a great big NO for all occasions.

I do not own a pair of sweatpants, and I don't know if I ever have. If I'm lounging around, I'm wearing boxers. If anyone doesn't like it (i.e. housemates), that's their problem.

I'm with stat.

However, I have no problem with others wearing speatpants in approproiate settings like at home lounging or going to class after just waking up.

I've got a pair that I tend to wear as pyjamas and for lounging. strictly speaking, I think they're yoga pants, but they're essentially the same thing. the ones that have elasticated ankles are the really hideous ones

Sweatpants are for lounging around. Track pants can be worn out and about. I still prefer jeans.
I had a blog. It sucked.

Have a couple of pairs of warm up pants. Nothing like cotton sweat pants though.

I prefer to sit around in long underwear. More comfortable and warmer.

Lounging around, but I always stay naked if there's no one else around. And sometimes if there is.

I think sweatpants might be a bit heavy for my tastes, but I wear my old karate pants all the time when I'm around the house, and sometimes even when I go out. I only don't wear them out when I'm wanting pants pockets (of which I don't have on the karate pants) or if the conditions require something tougher for manual labor or whatnot (oh, and "formal" occasions too I guess...) I'd also totally have sex in them too. :ninja:

Same

I wear them if I need to go out driving but don't plan on getting out of the car, and I was already wearing them

Sweatpants make good home clothes but aren't something I would want to wear out in public unless it's one of those I'm-so-damn-tired-that-I-don't-give-a-damn-what-other-people-think kinda of days.

Sums it up for me, methinks.

sweatpants should not be worn in any circumstance.

If you have to, wear polyester, bermuda print shorts. If you have to, cut some holes in a potato sack cloth, and wear that.

If you have no other clothing in the home.. Go naked.

It's that important.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.
