Which mp3 player?
2008-01-06, 5:36 PM #1
Alright Massassi, I'm looking for an MP3 player. I'd like to be able to get it from Newegg because I have a gift certificate there. I've been leaning toward a refurbished 2g or 3g 4gb nano, because I don't have much music, but I wondered if anyone had any wonderful suggestions that would make me change my mind. I'm looking to spend 150$-200$, but cheap is always nice.

As much as I like iPods, if you're a Windows user I would recommend a Zune2 - especially since you don't have a lot of music a cool thing to get might be the subscription service on the Zune store, would be a neat way to introduce yourself to new stuff.

i have one and having the sd card expansion is nice although it won't play mp3's from the media card yet. a firmware update will fix that soon they say.

I got a Philips 8GB that plays videos and also has a built-in recorder and stores pictures at Wal-Mart for about $100. I've had it since December and it works fine. A good sized screen too.

I'm a huge fan of the Zune2 (I have the 80GB version). The 80GB shouldn't be too different from the mini models, however. I'd give it a full recommendation.

You probably already know this but stay the heck away from Sony devices. They're wonderful pieces of hardware but they only play a copy-protected format. You have to use a POS program called SonicStage to convert and transfer your mp3s.

Sony's dropping DRM though, so that may change.

He has a newegg gift card. Not to mention I don't trust ****ty RAM companies to make my mp3 players.

May just be me.

i bought the chinese flash player from fry's, and it's great for audio books as long as it continues to work. Though actually, i wouldn't recommend it for music
