anyone play? thoughts? compared to pgr4?

i have forza 2. it came with the 360. my friend has pgr4 and a wheel. i love it. last time i played with a wheel was in 2000 when ea had a f1 game for the pc.
anyway, forza is more of a sim where pgr is more of an arcade game. what do you guys think? i'm looking for the sim but i don't want it to be hugely difficult at first and i know i want the extra control later on.

I love Forza.. never got into the PGR series because Forza owns it. Best driving physics of a game ever.

I don't find Forza difficult at all. The AI opponents are very easy to outrun as long as you have the right car/setup (even when running at hard difficultly). Just keep ABS, TCS on at all times. Follow the apex into the corner, remember breaking into the corner and accelerate out of the corner. Just be consistent and you wont have any problems.

How are the physics when compared to GTR2?
woot!

Well, GTR2 is a great game too I would almost consider them equal

The game's okay. I like the Need For Speed racing style better (police chases and such), but the customization ability in Forza is way better.

Anyone play the Burnout demo? It's really fun :D
2008-01-13, 6:36 PM #6
I honestly yearn for Burnout Paradise.

:P
nope.

I think I saw a commercial for that.

It's console only, isn't it. .(

Yeah but it's fun from what the demo shows :P

Maybe I'll buy one of these and play rFactor, NFS: Carbon, etc, and buy a PS3 when they're $200. :P

You know, with one of those, you could probably become a better driver.

You're probably right.

The clutch pedal is beyond spiffy - I remember playing GTR2 without a wheel..manual trans/clutch..and actually stalling the car. :awesome:
woot!

2008-01-14, 9:29 AM #21

Why wouldn't they mention that in the product specs?

:psyduck:
nope.

that's how I knew about it

Right from the source

Six-speed stick shift: Quickly select between six forward gears and a push-down reverse gear. Or switch to sequential shifting mode.

I picked it up a couple weeks ago. Quite good. I knew it would be because I have the previous game. I'm considering getting a wheel, I've seen three different makes. It would definitely be excellent with a wheel. Understeer and oversteer can be a problem with a knobby thumbstick. I disagree with the post towards the beginning about turning on ABS/TCS/etc. Turn all that crap off and all the difficulties up and reap greater credit rewards.

Compared to PGR series I would say they are different animals. I only have the first two PGR games but I enjoy the franchise. Sometimes I'll turn the PGR4 demo on for my two year old. The vehicles reset to the right direction when they crash so he can get some more enjoyment out of it. I'll probably pick up the others one of these days.

I only suggested keeping the ABS/TCS on for rookies.. But besides that, even real race cars have TCS. But it's all about how good you are with the throttle/braking. There are other ways to gain difficulty rewards. And you can unlock some achievements by turning the difficulty all the way up.
