Take Away Shows (Amazing)

Take Away Shows are urban themed single shot music videos. A band is taken to a location to perform with whatever they can bring with them for whatever audience available. French blog “La Blogothèque” provides these videos in high definition format for free each and every week.

Some of the highlights I’ve found while visiting the site:

Tapes N’ Tapes
I suggest you check out the second video lower on the page. The band walks through the streets of Paris, and the director’s keen use of the “reveal” allows him to show some quant street life while the band’s drummer taps on a commandeered sidewalk post. The band discovers a scaffolding and decides it’s a wonderful breakdown during the instrumental. The rawness of these videos was what first had me on this site.

Arcade Fire
This is the most beautiful and simple performance of a band I’ve ever seen anywhere. The raw actuality of the entire band stuffed into the confines of an elevator to perform a beautiful and quiet song is unlike anything you’d ever get from watching music videos, or going to a concert. Please see this video, even if you aren’t into this kind of music.

Jonquil
Feel good music with a folk flair, Jonquil is completely new to my ears, but absolutely pleasant. The director shines most in this video, revealing slowly a beautiful crowd of children gathered to hear the wonderful band’s performance.

This website is a must-visit for anyone. Even if you are uninterested in independent music, the site is invaluable to anyone who appreciates music and film in general. This site has (however dramatic it may seem) changed my tastes in music, and my expectations as an editor/videographer.

Post a few more that others should most certainly check out.

I watched the Arcade Fire one. It was okay, but I don't see what's you're so excited about.

Also, I found this sentence pretty funny:
