Backup Software

So, I hate Vista's backup and restore center. Apparently, it's insane that I'd want to back up my C drive to G, and my F drive to H. No, I should want to back up both C & F to one hard drive.

Morons.

So, I need some worthwhile backup software. Incremental backup support is necessary, and shadow copy features would be nice. Anyone have suggestions?

A bat file using xcopy is really nice and powerful. You can backup ony files that have been altered or added with the right switches.

Vegiemaster's idea isn't bad if your needs are relatively simple. You can use a batch file with Windows' scheduler to run daily or weekly or whatever. You should use robocopy though, xcopy has been deprecated.

Hrm, I use rdiff-backup on linux, it seems to work great. You could boot an ubuntu cd or something and run it there. Come to think of it, you're probably on XP/Vista and have NTFS, I don't think NTFS support is reliable in linux yet.

NTFS-3G supports full RW and is completely safe. I don't think it has journaling support, though.

It doesn't matter, though, because booting into Linux just to do backup is beyond retarded.
