(Or more correct, is getting legislation passed that will pardon himself and his ministration from any possible war crimes brought before him)

Now who can say Bush never plans with any regard to the future?

Damn. Sick bastards. First they think they can wiggle their torturing asses past the Geneva convention and now this. This is a pinnacle of political hypocrisy and it makes me sick.

Wow. An old, partisan CNN clip about Bush. Earth shattering.

Says the Republican.

It's only a week old. You make it sound like it's months old.

I'll admit it's extremely biased, but you're a damn idiot if you don't think what he's trying to do is wrong.

Um. The news ticker on the bottom of the screen states otherwise.

Not only that, the guy states that "if the Democrats get control of the house in November." That was an event months ago.

No, I was going to say years old but apparently I don't have to now.

So what happened in the end? Did it go through? What's the name of the bill and how did they word that in such a way that it'd be legal?

And he Wookieed himself!

Since the topic is at hand, I would ask people to remember that during that time some of the really anti-war democrats were going on about impeachment and how waterboarding was torture and so on. Seems to me the measure would have been a reasonable defensive move to protect people the administration from such possible future political attacks.

Enforcing U.S. and international laws on torture would not be a "political attack."

Torture of prisoners of war.

I wouldn't have any doubt that people assumed terrorists were some kind of exemption.

I disagree with torturing them but this seems like it may be one of those "ignorance of the law" cases (an extreme case, though.). While that argument isn't considered an excuse for the actions, it seems pretty human and natural to try to find a way to get out of being prosecuted.

It is very old news

Its pretty scary to think that our goverment has to power to breake the law, and then, "pardon" its self

I think that it is a BIG problem, but i also think tha beheading innocent americans on the internet is a tad worse that what we did.

Would you really care if it was your loved one getting their head chopped off??

Which happened once and there's lots of speculation on the video itself (Muslims don't wear gold, the killers are wearing gold rings.)
