What games did you love so much you bought them twice?

-Mario 64 I bought for the 64 and DS
-Gears of war PC and xbox 360
-FF7 PC and PSX
-MOTS because I was the only kid on the block to have enough systems for a LAN
-Deus Ex PC and PS2 BTW the ps2 sucked BAD.
-Halo for Xbox and PC
Trust me with your life but not your money or your wife.

I bought Mario 64 for N64 and then downloaded it onto the Wii.
I also bought Zelda: OoT for N64, then got it again when I got the "Master Quest" edition for Gamecube.
And then there was Super Mario Allstars which had several Mario games from previous systems (which I already owned).

Is it because the games are good, or you guys just have a knack at misplacing stuff :tinfoil:

Metal Gear Solid, PlayStation and GameCube. I think that's the only game I've bought twice.

Were it DVDs, on the other hand, the list would be far longer. Stupid special/collectors editions. :argh:

I've never bought anything twice. Even if I lost something I would just go pirate it. Paying for something twice is stupid.

I was going to count Metal Gear Solid, but I only bought the GC remake. I actually "borrowed" the PC version of the game a long time before hand, and didn't give it back to my friend for about a year >.>

I also bought a second copy of JK because it came with MotS, but our first copy of JK belonged to my dad so that doesn't count either.

Which means the only game I've bought twice is KotOR 1, because the play disc on my first copy got ruined.

Mario 64 for nintendo 64, then Wii Virtual Console.

Metal Gear Solid twice because the first one got scratched from borrowing it to so many people.
~ Mario 64 (I'm getting it for the DS in the very near future)
(4) JK I've scratched all to hell, and am now on my 4th copy, but haven't played it in 7 months or so.
Dark Forces for PC and PS.
FF8 PC and PS.
Sonic 2 for Sega and Gamegear.

What can you do with 7 copies of Deus Ex anyway?

I bought I think 3 copies of MechWarrior 2 and was given another one.

I got my first copy in 2000, played it up to some point, didn't think it was that good (>_<)... then lost it at some point before 2004 when I got one of these cheap McCheapass editions. Then I decided to get the soundtrack edition, got an American cheap McCheapass edition instead, then another cheap McCheapass edition with a cheap McCheapass wav soundtrack... so at that point, having bought Deus Ex 4 times, I decided that I just might as well get all neatly unique copies of DX so I got the UK boxed version, the US boxed version and the US boxed GotY.

... Oh wait, I got the PS2 version as well so technically I'd be getting my 9th copy of DX in some future. Wicked-o-mat!

Driver 2 after my originals disappeared.
Metal Gear 2 because I traded in Sons Of Liberty for a big discount on substance.
Splinter cell? It came free with a graphics card when I already owned it for PS2.
nope.

Same game:
Half-Life 2 / Ep1 (Orange Box)
Descent 3 (expansion pack came with the original game)
Myst 3: Exile because it came with Myst 4

Exact or changed ports or different variations of games:
Mario 64/DS
Super Mario Bros/DX
Super Mario Bros 2/Advance
Super Mario World/Advance 2
Super Mario World 2/Advance 3
Super Mario Bros 3/Advance 4
Descent 2 (PC)/Maximum (PSX)
Zelda 1, 2, OoT, Majora's Mask / Zelda Collector's Edition (GCN)
Zelda GB/DX
Zelda LttP/Four Swords
Pokemon Snap N64/Wii VC (Wii version has the screenshot-to-Wii-memory feature)
Pokemon Red/Yellow
Dark Forces PC/PSX (had to see if the PSX version was as bad as they said)

I could extend this list if I included sequels that were sorta the same (any game in the Pokemon series, or either Pokemon Pinball, etc) but I think I'll leave it at this.

I know a guy who had to buy his Steam games over because he shared his account with the wrong "friends". Someone changed his password and e-mail.

I had problems with one of my JK discs (it has a crack) but I ripped my friend's CD and burned myself another copy. Of course now-a-days I use the very easy no-cd crack which isn't really a crack since you just copy a four byte file off the CD.

I've dug up some new entries from my memory...

Return to Castle Wolfenstein
-Got the Special Edition in 2002
-Gained another copy after buying the ultimate iD Collection on Steam in 2007

Doom 2
-Got it in 1998, sold sometime later
-Regained it by buying the ultimate iD Collection on Steam in 2007

Half-Life, Opposing Force
-Got them in 2000 or 2002, sold around 2002
-Regained them by buying HL2 Silver on Steam in 2004

Duke Nukem 3D, II, I
-Bought it for the first time in 1998
-Bought the Kill-a-Ton Collection later in 1998

C&C Red Alert
-Got it in 1999ish, sold it in 2001ish
-Got it again with the First Decade set

And I nearly bought Jedi Knight again around 1999 or so when they released it again with the new covers that featured Darth Vader on the front cover... I believed so firmly that it was some kind of a revised edition where you could battle Vader but then I decided to check the Internet first. Bleh.
Star Wars: TODOA | DXN - Deus Ex: Nihilum

I've gotten Galactic Battleground twice, but that's only because the first time had the Clone Campaigns and that messes up the scenario file formats enough where vanilla GB can't read them >.<

Final Fantasy II / IV Had 2 on the SNES then bough IV on the GBA
Final Fantasy III / VI had III on the SNES, bought VI on the GBA
Mario Bros (Once on NES, twice on GBA (one for me and one for the wife) then again on the Wii VC also the SNES if you count all stars
Mario Bros 3 NES, GBA, and Wii VC, also on SNES if you count all stars
Super Mario 64 - N64, DS, Wii VC
Super Mario World - SNES, GBA, Wii VC
Star Fox 64 - N64 Wii VC

2008-01-23, 8:47 PM #38
Only game I can think of is Halo 3 since my child destroyed the disc. I plan to buy Chronicles of Riddick again when it is re-released on the current consoles. Well, when I find it cheap and/or used.
