Just wanted to remind everyone that the free game that MS is offering as compensation for the Christmas downtime (Undertow) is available from now until late Sunday. I have no idea if it's any good, but you might as well download it.

Oh you can't choose the game?
...
Ha-ha!

Nope, it's quite lame. Also, apparently people were unable to download this morning because of high demand, which just smacks of irony.

If you bought it prior to this you can call support and have the points refunded. If support tells you they can't do that, they're full of crap. It was in a press release.

I got the demo awhile back and wasn't terribly impressed. It wasn't bad, but I didn't care for it. I'll be passing on it. I never really had any trouble with Live through all this anyway.

I believe you can download it, but play it on mulitplayer - maybe not

Yes, you can download and play even if you only have silver. I doubt you can do MP, but don't know for sure.

Has Live been messing up still for anyone?
I tried to download it yesterday, but i would imagine due to volume of people trying to get their free game it was taking longer than normal to get anywere on live.
Oh well a free game is better than nothing, points would of been better so that I could choose my own game, but oh well.

I downloaded it yesterday. I played through the first two missions. Boring. I think it would be better if I had a huge tv, then maybe I could actually see my guy. I have a 32" standard def tv and the guy is so small, like 1/4 the size of a dime.

xbox live arcade is full of games where you steer with the left stick and shoot with the right stick.

Yes, XBox is much better on an HD TV. "Dead Rising" is unplayable because the text is so damn small you can't read any of it from across the room.

Yeah, I opt to play on my 20" monitor instead of my 27" CRT TV because it looks so much better, and I can actually read text.

Hopefully I'll be getting HDTV in the next few months. I only have a 17" monitor anyway... blarg, gotta get a new one of those, too, it's started fading in and out randomly. I hope it doesn't implode.

I can do HDMI to VGA right? Will that allow me to do 1080p on my monitor?

I ask because I can't play games in 1080i (all my TV is capable of) on my TV anymore because it has an oversanning issue I'm not interested in paying to have fixed.

they make a VGA adapter for the 360

What set of cables does it use though?

I don't want to have to do a buttload of swapping every time I want to switch from my TV to my monitor.

Personally I think 360 owners today should be downloading DMC 4....I know I will for my PS3.

It's a whole separate cable, so all you do is disconnect it from the xbox. It has it's own audio outs (optical and red/white as usual). There's basically no difference to the regular cable except it ends in a vga port.

It doesn't run at 1080p (or i for that matter, none of the resolutions run at i). But there is 720p, and a few somewhat higher than that. It's kinda weird. Read up on it, they list the resolutions it supports.
