Hey there,

anyone ever tried to mod IJ5?
I'm wondering if I could use JK2 modding tools as I heard they both use the same engine.. right?

Help me, guys! ;)

I don't think anybody really got into it since it was against the EULA. But to be honest I don't think that should stop anyone, it'd be interesting to see how much more capable the updated engine is.

So far, I've found tools to extract and compress GOB-files which is quite cool but not enough..
Doing everything by hand takes bit too much time..

I just finished replaying this game last week. The modding potential would have been phenomenal.

Not the engine used for JK2, but an upgraded version of the Sith Engine that was used for JK1.

I never got to finish this game. I could get to the end of the first boss, an ice creature I think, and then it would freeze every single time. Patch didn't fix it, and in all honesty I didn't enjoy enough to dig up a work-around. Does it actually get better, because I found some of the puzzles annoying and the combat really disappointing.

Consider it does.

Playing the game now for the first time would be quite disappointing, i guess.. but if you've played it years ago it's really funny..
And as it's already been said.. think there's still much potential in it.

The combat is meh and the puzzles are pretty cool. Not amazing, but good, I thought. The story isn't well fleshed out but they do some neat stuff with Babylonian legend that I liked a lot.

The mine car sequence in Solomon's Mines was awesome though.

I bought it and didn't get very far. I was bored the entire time. I think I gave my copy away, because I can't find it.

Several of the formats are different (compiled instead of plain text), but they shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

Not going to happen, though. True, LucasArts probably wouldn't care, but the community has lost far too much talent to do anything interesting with it. :(
And when the moment is right, I'm gonna fly a kite.
